I guess we have to be realistic that Fulham don't have the pulling power anymore of the Premier, but even then we always seem to be waiting till the last minute to get in players. But the problem for me is our Chairman saying 'He will do everything to get us back in the Premier' hasn't really materialised in 3 seasons. And you have to wonder that we struggle to even fund transfers of players who are unknown to most of us. Again I haven't seen much activity for solid Center Backs and Defensive Midfield players. I can't see Jokanovic being happy that the training is under way and we are lacking his players in a lot of positions after the clear out we have had.
Indeed. And it's the pattern of how we've gone about doing business (or lack of it) over the past two seasons that concerns. Flaffing about (to use rosc's description) with bid, then counter bid and so on; only to get the player stolen from under our nose. Incidentally I understand that Craig Kline is back on the scene. Not as a paid employee but sent over as a friend of Khan Jr. and apparently to provide his analytic wisdom. I hear tell that he and Rigg don't get on. Is it any wonder, if the backroom are tied up in political bickering, that we can't get our act together?
Do any of you know the likelihood of Ale Faurlin being offered a contract? I would much prefer him to be still employed in W12, but that wasn't going to happen! He is one of my top five favourite Rangers players of all time. To still be playing after three ACL's is incredible. Obviously, he hasn't reached the performances prior to his first injury, but he was still by far our most constructive player last season. Mind you, if he hadn't got that injury in January 2012, he would have left us in either that January or the following summer & was on the brink of the Argentine side at that time. Please take good care of the man. His attitude is worth you signing him alone!
Yes. Hes got a decent cross , average on the ball at this level, cant defend. A poor and unnecessary signing by the genius that is Russell Slade. Im glad hes going as hes one we need out to improve. Not happy that we appear to be signing Jazz Richards but from what ive seen of Richards for Wales is that Richards is a far better right back than Malone is a left back. However thats more to do with Malones defending than Richards ability. You cant fault his attitude and id say where we got him from - Millwall is his level. I cant really believe weve got him off the books - you dont want Le Fondre and Macheda as well do you?
So, Denis Odoi has announced he'll be joining us; before the Club get it out. Quelle surprise! Latest story is that we're moving in on Brentford's goalkeeper David Button. please log in to view this image His future at Brentford looks uncertain after Brentford secured the signing of Southend United goalkeeper Daniel Bentley earlier this month. Button is entering the final year of his contract at Griffin Park and the club have opened talks with him over a new deal, but he has yet to agree a new contract.
A quick update from the twitters sphere world..... Everybody in the world has officially confirmed Odoi as a Fulham player other than the club, Odoi has even given an interview himself confirming the move and pretty much saying Friday will be the day he is officially announced. Scott Malone has apparently agreed terms and passed our infamous and we are just waiting for Richards to do the same at Cardiff rumours are that he has agreed terms and was having a medical yesterday so could go through soon. Macdonald the one I really wanted sounded very close but worryingly has very quiet since two days ago when rumours surfaced that Sheff Wed had matched our bid.
If Scott Malone signs soon as expected what more would fans like, to be honest I think there would only be one more position that we definately need and that's defensive midfielder, we are obviously looking at this as we have been linked to Delaney and Macdonald. Possibly a forward and a commanding centre half but these would be bonuses and are not must now. 1. Defensive Midfield - this is a must and hopefully we can get the Macdonald deal done 2. Commanding Centre Half - we haven't spent huge this summer and I would give Blackburn the 5-6 mill they are looking for to get Handley in but this would be a bonus 3. A striker with pace - A Dembele replacement maybe someone like Nakhi Wells but if we don't McCormack, Smith and Woodrow should have goals in them. Another bonus if it happens
After being suspected of drink driving Ashkan Dejagah has been released from Al-Arabi, where he was player of the year last season. And lo .. he's been spotted at Fulham Broadway. please log in to view this image Could it, would it, should it happen !?
Never mind Dejagah, this MacDonald situation is very Deja Vu. He's playing in a friendly for Wolves against Crewe tonight and their manager, Kennny Jacket, has said "It's very quiet at the moment in terms of his transfer". Reports are suggesting that "the 27-year-old is still trying to agree personal terms with the Cottagers ahead of a prospective £1.5m switch". Word is that the Scott Malone deal is done and dusted. However he won't move until the reciprocal deal for Jazz Richards is similarly sorted. Jazz met with the Cardiff boss and players on Wednesday ahead of his medical, which apparently went well but there has been a glitch in agreeing terms. Watch this space! The Mirror now saying that we've had two bids rejected but .. the clubs are still talking/negotiating!
I don't know if any of follow the friends of Fulham forum but I do keep an eye of it and there is a poster on there who he very much respected and has minor inside knowledge of the club, he is on the fans board that meet with the club regularly is careful what he posts and when he has said a transfer is happening in the past 9 times out of 10 it has. Anyway today he posted that the Button deal is done and dusted and should be announced soon, he states that he does not know the fee. Not sure what to think of this I actually don't mind Betts and am a big fan of Joronen, also both being of an age where exposure to first team football could see rapid improvement. People in England do t like throwing youngsters in as keepers but it does seem very much an English thing most other countries if your decent you get your chance.
Interesting : could be what we require,we must have someone who can command his area this we have lacked since the departure of Mark Swartzer.
Think again Kunye. Hull apparently putting in a £6m bid for Marshall. We wanted £10 last year and won't come down much on that. He is settled in Cardiff and would only go upwards - to a Prem club.
Following up on cookies earlier posting an article on one of the fan scene says, As Brentford have already signed what they deem to be their new no1 keeper DAN BENTLEY, the Bees have elected to release DAVID BUTTON to their rivals Fulham. He is expected to be named their no1 keeper. Lets wait and see.
According to the Sun we're lining up the Ipswich CB Tommy Smith. please log in to view this image The 26yr old New Zealand International came through their Academy and has been a first team regular under McCarthy. He's got a year left on his contract and the story says we're happy to pay the £750k fee.
