The Mail are saying that we're looking at Wigan's defensive midfielder Emyr Huws. please log in to view this image The 22yr old from Llanelli came through the Man City Academy and had periods on loan before signing on at Wigan in summer 2014. Last season he went back out on loan to Huddersfield; playing 30 times and scoring 5. In Cookie Coleman's original squad for the Euros, he was unlucky not to the final 23-man cut; Welsh media suggesting that was a mistake. http://insidecardiffcity.co.uk/could-the-omission-of-emyr-huws-cost-wales/? The Mail say Wigan have put a £2.5m price on his head - probably that's about double his value but to get a young, progressive player with potential future value we'll need to go near the higher amount.
Here's a link to the Premiership players whi have been released: http://www.premierleague.com/conten...015-16-professional-free-transfers-report.pdf Some well worn names among that lot. What caught my eye was Leicester. Apart from Konchesky and Schwarzer (obviously), there are some good young players among their list and who may be worth a punt. Anybody shout out for you?
From an ex-Fulham perspective - not that I'm saying we should sign these, in each case I think their time has been and gone - there's also Hangeland, Sidwell and Richardson. Osman, Hibbert and Pienaar of Everton caught my eye until wikipedia told me that they are 35, 35 and 34 respectively - I thought all of them were three or four years younger than that. Jose Enrique of Liverpool will probably go somewhere more glamorous than the Championship, and would want more money than we would (or should) offer, but he's a player crying out to rebuild his career somewhere, and looked a really good attacking left back in his Newcastle days. Steven Taylor of Newcastle wouldn't be a bad shout in the Championship, although that begs the question of why Newcastle are choosing to release him. Danny Graham and Steven Fletcher have both got good years left in them (30 and 29 respectively) and should do well at our level. Graham was prolific in his Watford days in the Championship, and for a while Fletcher was quite prolific in the Premier League (not for a while though). I'm surprised to see Sessegnon going from West Brom, thinking back to what he was like at Sunderland, but it's been a long time since he's shown that kind of form. Anichebe of West Brom might flourish at a lower level, but then again, he might just as easily not. In short, there are some names on the list that might be worth a punt, but all of them would come with that nagging suspicion that we might just be buying another players whose best days are behind them. There's no one here that would excite me to hear we were signing them.
Sidwell has joined Brighton, Captain. Definitely some worthwhile names in your list. Sessegnon definitely a surprise. Like you say, most come with a doubt though - that they're likely to be looking for that final payday simply to boost their pension. The one that could be the exception is Hibbert of Everton.
Thought Robson-Kanu had a great first half for Wales today; holding the ball up, drawing the English CBs out and so on. Agree might still be the question marks you raise SuperBri but could see him doing a job for us and working well beside McCormack.
According to reports, Serdar Aziz has rejected our terms. The Club had offered €4m up front with €2m based on bonuses.
According to French papers we're interested in Ligue 2 side Red Star's midfielder Naim Sliti. please log in to view this image The 23yr old came through the Marseille youth system, but made his professional debut with Sedan. He signed for Red Star in 2014 after joining from Paris FC, and has gone on to make 50 league appearances for the club. He made his debut for his country this month when he scored against Djibouti during an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
According to Italian media we're interested in Verona's goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini. please log in to view this image They say that the 21yr old old wants out following Verona's relegation to Serie B and originally with the Man United Academy Gollini would like a move to England. he played 27 games for them last season and with his current contract not up till Summer 2019 would probably cost around £1m. The picture above is worth a thousand words rosc. He's the regular Italy U20 international goalie and his stats are quite good (in so far as stats reveal much about a keeper). From what I've gleaned around various sites, he's a big lad who certainly commands the 6 yard box.
All the signs are there that we've dropped out of this one. Okay it's The Sun again but they're now saying Sheffield Wednesday are favourites to sign Grant Hanley and probably more significant, the price has shot up to £5m.
See that Aston Villa have signed a centre back from Bournemouth - Tom Elphick - on a 3 year deal please log in to view this image Not the tallest for a CB, and not a huge amount of time last year in the Premiership; only 12 or 14 games. However whacks of Championship experience when for the previous two seasons he was their No. 1 choice. Unusually the fee of £3m has been disclosed. And that's probably twice his market value. The main point of the post is about exactly that. If you really want someone because they fit where you are and your vision of where you want to be, get in and no messing! Unlike us last year fiddling about with penny ante bids for Stearman from June and finally getting him two weeks after the season started; paying more than double our original offer (just as one example). Unfortunately we seem to be going down the same route again this summer. Can you spot the common denominator? Yeah ... Mike Rigg. If it's true all we got from Bournemouth for Hyndman was £750k, let's put it in a brown envelope and hand it to Rigg along with a plane ticket to (enter continent of your choice). PS fantastic business by Bournemouth with these 2 deals.
Turkish media is saying that we're preparing to put in an offer for the Bursaspor striker Tomas Necid please log in to view this image Source: http://www.futbolarena.com/bursaspo...de-fulham-ve-middlesbrough-talip-282453h/q4qs The Czech international scored there equaliser against Croatia the other day, from the penalty spot. The 26yr old stands at 6' 3" and has played 37 times for his country and scored 10 goals. Borsaspor got him on a free transfer last summer - they're probably now looking at £4m and upwards for him. In his year with them he's made 28 appearances and scored 11. The big drawback is his agent - Mino Raiola. Him of Jol infamy and now young Dembele's agent.
Word now coming in is that Serdar Aziz has signed a 4 year deal with Galatasaray. Perhaps more interesting is a parallel story that Galatasaray have also signed Hugo Rodallega for €1.7m. Does this put paid to the rumours that Moussa Dembele is moving to them?
Watching Zoltan Gera's reinvention as a deep-lying midfielder (and his shooting lesson for Cristiano Ronaldo) begs the question: would you be tempted to have him back? Academic, I'm sure, as he's probably happy to be back home in Hungary , but what does everyone think?
Take him like a shot Captain, the way he's playing in Euro 2016. Hopefully coming off at half time today wasn't anything serious. However as you say, why would he move? Frencvaros - league title, cup medal and now a hero for his country.
What is he 36 / 37 definitely not ,a great server to the club but we must be looking to the future, or else we will find ourselves with an old squad similar to the on we had when relegated
37 years and 62 days rosc. Sure we don't want a team of oldies (golden or otherwise) but what we'd have given for just a little bit of midfield experience and drive in the last couple of years? Look at Gera's stats in the first half today: 100% pass accuracy 3 clearances 1 interception 2 shots 1 goal
"A bit of breaking news this evening. Sky sources are telling us that Bournemouth have accepted an undisclosed bid from Bristol City for striker Lee Tomlin. The 27-year-old scored six goals in 18 games for the Championship club on a loan spell there last season, impressing enough for City to consider a permanent switch".
