Remember Hanley scoring against us a few years ago. He was a real youngster then (I think he gave away our winning penalty) but I thought he looked like he had real promise. I think he'd be a good signing, but I'll believe it when I see it!
Agree with your scepticism Surlyc. But, you're right - he would be a good signing. Indeed, the more I think about it, the more I'm coming round to SuperBri's thinking of Michael Madl (already on the books) as defensive midfield. So if we signed Hanley and the other guy Sergi Gomez as centre backs .... ........Fredericks...Hanley...Gomez...xxx... .................................Madl.......................... Could work !?
In terms of defensive midfield, there are rumours we will shortly be signing Rohan Ince permanently.... Not sure if that's the answer personally.
French media are saying that we're interest in league 2 Red Star's defensive midfielder Yann Boé-Kane The 25yr old Frenchman, who has 1 year left on his contract, played 29 games for them last season and is valued under £500k. Some more numbers - he stands at just over 6ft in his stocking soles. While Slavi has been out in Spain he's been taking in more that the Champions League Final. One guy he watched and has been added to our list of possible Center Backs is, Pablo Insua Blanco. The 22yr old is just ending his year loan to CD Leganes before returning to his parent club Deportivo, where he's on contract until summer 2018. Valued at about £1.5m, he's played for Spain at both U19 and U20 levels. Source: http://www.riazor.org/insua-despierta-el-interes-de-varios-equipos-de-primera/
Here we go again! The Sun are saying we've put in a revised bid of £2m for Hanley, who had a strong game alongside McCormack for Scotland yesterday even though they lost 1-0.
The merry-go-round continues! We have apparently made a bid for another Centre Back, Serdar Aziz of Turkish side Bursaspor. The 25yr old came through the Bursaspor youth sides, starting as a midfielder but moving to CB in 2010. In all he's made 130 odd appearances for them; 21 of them last season when the club finished 11th in the Super Lig. Aziz has played for every possible national team at the youth level and got his first full cap in 2014. Since then he's picked up a total of 9, but he hasn't been selected for their squad to play at the European Championships in France this summer. The guy is probably worth as much as Grant Hanley, maybe a little more (say about £3.5m/£4m). However, again we've gone in low. The Bursaspor chairman, who made the bid public, said, "There are two serious offers from us about Serdar Aziz. One of the English team Fulham, Besiktas other. They offer figures on our proposals currently under our expectations. We will wait a little longer." And .. it won't be any coincidence that he's gone public and just happens to mention that there's two clubs interested. .
Read up a bit on Aziz last night and he sounds a very promising signing, then woke up this morning to read West Ham and Inter Milan are also interested lol
Doubt if our toe in the water will go any further. Besiktas are said to have offered 3m euros plus two players but Bursaspor are looking for at least 8m (£6m). The guy has got 2 years left on his contract. Source: http://www.adaletbiz.com/gundemc/iste-besiktasin-serdar-aziz-teklifi-h70831.html
Robson-Kanu has been released by Reading. Any takers for a big strong 27yr old down that left wing? Link to latest Championship released players: https://footballfragmento.wordpress.com/2016/05/06/championship-released-players-summer-2016/ [We've been credited (??) with letting Dan Burn go, but of course nothing has been said officially .. yet. Next Tuesday 8th June being the expected D-Day from the Club]
According to the Daily Mail (hmm!) we're showing an interest in Aston Villa forward Callum Robinson. The paper says that new Villa boss, Roberto Di Matteo, won't be renewing the 21yr old's contract this summer. Robinson came through the Academy ranks at Villa and has represented England International youth at U16 through all the levels to U20. He's only made 5 appearances for the Villa first team though and was out on loan to Preston in season 2014/15 - 7 goals in 28 games, then Bristol City last season - (probably least said best done about that one).
Must admit to having him down as one of the players who impressed playing against us. But not convinced he is just only a good 10 game a season player, then goes missing. He doesn't seem to be consistent.
Be interesting to see how he gets on in the Euros under Coleman. Like our two he sat on the bench in the Wales defeat to Sweden last Friday.
Well. we certainly need a Left Back and the latest player on the rumour mill is just that. One with definite quality and also a question mark. According to TalkSport Derby County's Craig Forsyth is on the radar. The 27yr old Scottish International has over 100 games to his credit since signing for them from Watford in 2013. Forsyth was an automatic first team choice until his season was cut short after he suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury in November. And that's the question mark. He still has 2 years to run on his contract but with Marcus Olsson, his replacement, doing well it appears that Derby's new boss Nigel Pearson is prepared to let Forsyth go.
Think he still has a year left on his contract but has turned down a new one ..... Know very little about him personally
The link to us about Stefan Johansen apparently started in the Daily Express. please log in to view this image The defensive midfielder was one of Celtic's stars since joining in Januar 2014 - playing 113 games and scoring 13 goals - but his form tailed off in the last bit of Ronny Deila’s time there. New boss Brendan Rogers is obviously taking stock and talks about a new deal have indeed broken down. Think the best summing up comes from STV: "The 25-year-old Norwegian only has a year of his Hoops contract to run and talks have failed to produce an extension agreement. Now Craven Cottage boss Slavisa Jokanovic is monitoring the situation, well aware a bid in the region of £2million could well convince Celtic to sell a player who has fallen foul of the Parkhead boo-boys."
And .. talking of Celtic. They have confirmed that Anthony Stokes is definitely leaving the club. please log in to view this image Bandit ! .. Bandit !!! ... where are you Bandit?
