No but he would have told the media and the players Agents exactly what they could do and I think it would have been something quite painful.

This is a testing time for our new management team.

It will be interesting to see if they manage it well and we survive this media driven onslaught which is intent on virtually destroying us.

If they get it wrong then all the good work of the past five years will be undone.

[h=2]Angella wanted by West Ham and Southampton[/h]BY BENJAMIN WILLS ⋅ MAY 14, 2014 ⋅ POST A COMMENT

Watford defender Gabriele Angella is attracting the eye of Premier League sides West Ham United and Southampton.Italian Angella, 25, arrived at Vicarage Road in 2013 and was one of many to join the Hornets from Udinese – a club owned by the Pozzo family who bought Watford in 2012.The Florence born centre back only missed one game this season and has picked up a reputation as a goal scoring defender, having found the back of the net eight times for Guiseppe Sanino’s side this campaign.Angella signed a lengthy five year deal last Summer but a move to the top flight may be too hard to turn down.He has played in Italy’s top division, making 20 appearances for Udinese between 2010 and 2013, scoring four goals during that period, but in 2013 he found himself at Serie B side Reggina on loan where he played 19 matches, netting just the once.West Ham have had well documented defensive problems due to seemingly endless injuries, so much so that the club had to loan Roger Johnson from League 1 Wolverhampton Wanderers. While Southampton have highly rated full backs in Luke Shaw and Nathaniel Clyne, central defence is a problem with Jos Hooiveld scoring three own goals in the 2012/13 season.

The sooner the manager issue is sorted and made public the better. Be hard to sign players when we ourselves are unclear about our future plans and style...of course we are not the only team in this position, but it is easier for higher profile clubs to get players under those circumstances.

As long as she owns us and is rich, I prefer to consider her pleasantly rounded :)

Much like Markus, and much like George R. R. Martin, I would like to see her healthy. Because something I love kind of relies on her being alive and well.

According to a twitter transfer rumour account, we have made contact about Steven Caulker.

Probably nothing in it though(?)

Saw a tweet that JRod was in London for a medical yesterday, (no not Spurs), and is making good progress.

Gives me an idea...let's slightly cripple all the players we want to keep (bugger the World Cup) :emoticon-0170-ninja, then they'll probably have to stay. Not Lambert of course...couldn't do that our Rickie :emoticon-0152-heart.

It's possible (I know many on here disagree, but I rate him), but those twitter accounts are generally less reliable than the papers and that's saying something.

I have previously seen comments from Cardiff fans claiming to be ITK saying that we were interested. Apparently there's a nice release clause in his contract. Who knows?

He's not an improvement on Lovren but he's probably a step up from (or at least on par with) Fonte. Would improve our depth at CB considerably to have him around. If he came cheap I'd welcome it.

Southampton appears to be the shopping destination of choice for European football

clubs at the moment. The Premier League side had a good season and certain players received much attention, now with the football over and the window getting closer the vultures have begun to circle.

Whilst getting huge fees for players won't hurt Southampton, selling too many almost certainly will and a balance needs to be struck between accepting good offers, allowing those who want to leave to go, and not shaking things up too much ahead of the next campaign.
It looks likely that Luke Shaw will be leaving and perhaps Adam Lallana too, but reports have also been growing about interest in Morgan Schneiderlin. The Frenchman found himself on the standby list for his country's World Cup

squad on Tuesday and that's not so long after he pondered whether people in French football were aware of his existence.

Rafa Benitez's Napoli are the latest team to be linked with the midfielder and 'FIFA Agent' Bernado Brovarone has been quoted by Calciomercato as confirming that interest.
Of course, there's is no such thing as a 'FIFA Agent' but in Italy there are registered agents who instead of actually representing players just stir up rumours in the media.

As I've said before, imo the first ones out will find it easiest...after that the rest will be told no. I can't remember any team selling lots of players except when facing administration.

There is going to be a few players in and out. ImpSaint and a few others have made some good points. I think it is worth remembering though that nobody will leave that doesn't want to leave.
I have to beg the question therefore would we actually want managers or players to stay at Saints that actually want to be at another club?
Would it actually be the end of Saints....No I don't think so. Ok we may struggle a bit and we may have a few Pompey fans laughing behind our backs, and on here. We at Saints are used to players making a name for them selves and moving on, we survived before and will again.
Some have made some other points about the size of the club. While we have been in the Premier we have maintained a good following, average gates near on or over 30000. For us to get anywhere near the following of Spurs, Chelski even Liverpool. Who only average about 15000 or so more regular fans we have to expand St Mary's. It is a chicken and egg situation for me. We are not going to get larger crowds until we can actually fit them in. 3 expansions over a 10 year programme should see us up there with a capacity of around 45000 which I believe would be our maximum at the present ground.
Trouble is though it takes money and a lot of vision. I really cannot see our owner ever contemplating doing things like that.
I just get the impression she just wants to be the owner of a club that just ticks over and brings in small rewards for her and the family.

It is obvious that you don't want players that don't want to be here, but sometimes just telling them they are needed and won't be allowed to leave is enough to settle them down. Jos (according to the player himself) wanted to leave in January, but he was told with Lovren's injury he couldn't...did he throw his dummy out of the pram? Our players won't suddenly hate the club and fans...this has been a happy club for the past 5 years (with no sign that has changed since KL stepped in).
