Regardless of that, I'd be interested to know your opinion based on what you've heard so far. What % chance would you give that Adam Lallana will be a Saints player next season?

I still think the chances are very high. Look at the facts: he loves the club, he has four years left on his contract, and he is worth more to us than anyone is likely to offer. Ok, yes he might want to play at a higher level, but I don't think that desire is strong enough currently to outweigh the other factors.

The only news we have of an offer is as of last night, and there is no suggestion that it will be accepted. I accept there may be information we don't have at this point, but we can't reasonably make judgements based on that. I think people who assume he will go based on the information we do have are doing so more emotionally than rationally.

Yes, just said on Luke thread that BBC are at St Mary's today with news of WC squad and "bids for two Southampton players" which rather adds fuel to this fire.

I do hope you are right. My opinion is not cut and dried, or black and white at all, but I'm thinking 65% he's going. That's not an emotional view, but based on what has been said, how it's been said and what's not been said.

I just hope that at least we don't sell them before the WC, so we can enjoy watching them play and not have the commentators constantly referring to them as 'Liverpool's new man' and whatnot.

"United-bound".....*shudders*.....completely agree Mikey, and for some reason I really want foreign commentators and fans to know that they are Saints players too.

Agreed. We should tell everyone we won't discuss any offers until after the world cup so the players can go with clear heads. If negotiations are ongoing when the tournament starts there will be huge pressure from the players and agents for a quick resolution which wouldn't be in our interest.

I really doubt anything will be done before the World Cup anyway.

Just wait for it, we'll only have one Saints player at the world cup after all the "we're off to Brazil" chants this season!

Lovren's would wind me up, given how his career was in a pretty rapid decline before he joined us and now he's possibly clearing off after a year.

I would actually be most disappointed in Dejan if he's decided that (although we have no idea what's going on behind scenes). More to the point, if we're willing to sell those three, there's no way MP will be staying.

What's this about Dejan? Is he off as well? Someone give Cork a contract as well for christ sake.

TBH I think a lot of Saints fans are not going to just 'wish Lallana the best' if he moves on. After saying what he has said this year and last about staying here for ever if he could and retiring at Saints some are going to hold that against him if he pushes for a transfer.

Same with Lovren. The guy was given an escape from his nightmare and has played well but its all the 'I love you guys' and 'I love it here' stuff that will really get people's backs up.

I know many will just laugh but with me being naive, innocent, a little romantic and honest I don't understand how players can come out with this in public. Words are very easy and yes they just tow the company line but this is one of those things that really gets me mad.

I await a fake headline from the next cynical adult that reads 'Humans lie shocker' but thats the way I feel.

Being honest I drifted away from Saints through the early nineties (in my late teens to early twenties) as the Premier League started to ruining the romance of football for me. I still checked results but not religiously and some weeks it would be midweek that I checked what happened at the weekend.

It was only when I read about our impending liquidation that my feelings for Saints were rekindled and i scoured the internet for news for hours and hours and thank god for Markus and Nicola. That resuscitation of enjoying football again has carried on for the past 5 years but I feel like I am about to get back to square one and this summer could well make me fall out of love with football again.

A pity and some may say diddums or grow up, but that is how I feel.

Bale and Walcott left because we needed the money so didn't think badly of them. I was annoyed at Oxo, but I soon began to look for him with interest. I will be bitterly disappointed with Adam, but he has repaid us many times over...don't mind Liverpool, so will probably get over it fairly quickly. However, I think Shaw owes us a few years (unless he is forced out), but unlike the others I would struggle to wish him well at United in the League. I do, however support United when they play foreign teams, so he can play well in those games (yes, I'm a hypocrite). We should remember that these thoughts must also go through the minds of supporters of teams when we sign their stars.

Yes, I think it was easier to get over that one as we maintained our success without him.
