Formerly Capn Kelvin/bigbadboruc here... i want us to sign a keeper (forster/butland) a cb (dier/mangala) a couple of strikers (ings/remy) and depending on whether we sell adam or not, clement grenier from lyon... that squad looks a bit healthier but i think we would still need a bit more depth...

 

Nicola certainly improved his profile with the media by learning to schmooze...taking Jim White to the training camp for instance. However, although annoying the media can't actually hurt us. Most of our coverage has been positive this season anyway. The only danger is unsettling the team, but the board can sort that by putting the players more in the loop and by not doing what is mooted in the press. Fingers crossed.

Oh PTF, yes that one. The one where he said "conversations happen in football, as we all know." Last week or the week before, you wouldn't accept that conversations happen in football when there was a discussion that people still talk whether bids are made or not.

The same interview where he said that sometimes we have to accept that there are clubs out there in much better financial positions than us. Now maybe he was just stating an obvious fact, but I sort of felt it was alluring to something else.

 

I don't think I've ever said I don't believe that "conversations happen". I said the club needs to accept an offer before personal terms can be discussed with players, hence the stories saying Lallana or Shaw have "sealed a move" are wrong, or the board are lying when they say there have been no offers.

You may be right that he is alluding (which I think is what you meant!) to the fact that we may get offers we can't refuse, but he did say there is "nothing that needs communicating", which implies that he wasn't aware of any firm offers when the interview happened. Or he thinks the offer is inconsequential I suppose...

 

I'm sorry but that's just not true anymore. Agents of clubs have conversations with players agents all the time discussing possible terms and these are often completed before offers have officially been accepted. Of course there won't be a paper trail etc but that's the way of things I'm afraid.

 

It may happen, but if so it's in contravention of the rules, which doesn't contradict what I said.

 

But you weren't replying to those stories, you were replying to my post and I didn't say a deal was sealed, I gave my interpretation of the situation. You are right 'alluding' - fat fingers

I just think that I seem to read between lines and you read the facts and so we interpret things differently, which is fine. I hope I'm reading this wrong but I see this as Adam having played his last game for Saints. Sadly.

No, you mentioned what I said "last week or the week before", so I gave you the context of what I said then.

I try to avoid reading between the lines in cases like this to be honest, because there are so many different things you could infer that way and almost all of them are wrong!

As Pochettino/Salas have said, we live in a world of facts and until we are made aware that something has factually changed, we have to work under the assumption that he's our player and will remain so.

 

Regardless of that, I'd be interested to know your opinion based on what you've heard so far. What % chance would you give that Adam Lallana will be a Saints player next season?
