Don't you think it is weird it's from all the same journo's etc that Cortese used?

 

Ye but isn't beyond the realms of possibility that it's just coincidence. These are just the journalists that have got closer to other contacts within the football club too?

 

Or these are the journo's that got close to the old regime?

 

Or those journos were close to Cortese's regime, are irritated at no longer getting news from the club and are now looking for opportunities to unsettle us?

 

Cortese spoke of dark forces round the club when he was here. It's not that witch putting curses on us again, is it? Because if she is, she's rubbish at it.

 

It's the pompey shirts buried under the stadium.

Not really, they are probably just the ones who are tasked with covering Southampton. Other than Jim White, who has probably just nicked the 'scoop' from a junior.

 

You have too much faith in there not being utter bitter bastards playing the media. I say this as a guy that very much thought Cortese was amazing.

 

Just a wild stab in the dark, which incidentally is what you'll be getting if you don't start being a bit more helpful.

 

I don't disagree with that, I just find it hard to believe Cortese doesn't have better things to do with his time.

 

Why does Cortese need the time to do it? As I keep saying over and over and over, David Bick is his PR consultant.

David Bick has the contacts. Cortese doesn't need to be planting any **** personally.

As Beefy said, it won't be Cortese, it will be someone close to him. Like Bick, perhaps.

Ok then, why would he pay Bick or anyone else to do this work? This whole theory just doesn't stand up to scrutiny.

More likely. Or perhaps they just perceive players who are bigger than the club and see a story there. It's not exactly unusual.

 

Which then leads to other questions. If Bick is feeding the journos, who is feeding Bick? If it's Cortese feeding Bick, is someone at the club feeding him info, or are they planting complete falsehoods? You'd have to think the person responsible is, at the very least, trading off the suggestion that they have an in (otherwise they aren't really necessary for the whole venture of fabricating rumours), and I'm not certain that an ex-PR guy would be able to sell himself as clued in -- or even Cortese as retaining the access -- unless they were able to make a somewhat credible claim that someone in the current hierarchy is passing them this stuff.

 

Yeah, as I've said before Swansea's players and manager got linked everywhere last summer so this definitely isn't a unique situation.

At the same time I could believe it's just journos because I seem to remember Cortese got an incredible amount of bad press before he learned how to play the media game (basically it seems to be that you pick a few journos, buy them a lunch here, pay for a trip to a training camp in Spain there, grant them some exclusive interviews and give them some bits and pieces of info) so it may be that the same thing is happening here and the current board will get slaughtered until they learn to butter up the the media.
