Lol. thought people were getting seriously excited about a player at Leyton Orient for a minute

 

I think Welbeck is exactly the man we're looking for. He has all the same qualities as Jay Rodriguez.

 

Oh how I'd love him. One of my favourite players.

 

I'm slightly concerned by Chicharito's performances this season but he is very loveable.

 

He's still getting about a goal every two games if you go by minutes. Not as good as his last few seasons, but then nobody at United outside of Rooney and De Gea really is.

 

I wouldn't mind signing Aboubakar.

What our squad lacks is someone with pace and power and a direct running style. Someone who is going to get defenders running back on their heels.

This lad seems to fit that description. Welbeck is probably too ambitious a target for us and even further from our range is Jackson Martinez who looked impressive when I saw him recently. There are certainly players out there for us.

We were linked with Rodrigo of Benfica at the start of the season but I suspect he has escaped our price range after a great season with Benfica. He looks like he would be ideal for the pressing game and we need more of a goalscoring midfield threat. Davis, Morgan, Cork and Wanyama are unlikely to see double figures between them let alone on their own. Holtby could be another option or the lads from Basel as a long shot

 

Martinez is valued at neatly 20m tho, I reckon we could get Aboubakar for about 7m if that

It must be really frustrating for Bournemouth that all they have received for Lallana is 18K (talk about a bargain) then watched as he refused to leave us in League 1 and is doing the same now. I'm sure that other clubs look at our team sheet more as a shopping list, but it is not going to happen. Lallana is central to our team and won't be sold unless he agitates (and that isn't going to happen).

 

Being loveable is the first requirement for our transfer targets.

 

Yep I agree with you Fran, in my opinion he won't be going anywhere, but I just wish sometimes the red tops would leave it and move on to someone else...but unfortunatley they think Adam should be sold to a bigger club.
Shame for Bournemouth because the money would be more than useful, but that's football sometimes.

 

I agree. Don't think we're ever likely to get him, but playing at a club like us every week, he's be a revelation. I'd play him down the middle.

 

Welbeck like a lot of the top team rejects will be well above our salary cap so I wouldn't worry to much about who might be becoming available from those above us and concentrate on low rem/upper Championship + Euro teams

 

I think that's pretty good value for a 10 year old.

Much as I do like the Cherries, I've a feeling they are going to have to wait forever for their 25%. Adam makes it clear every time he is asked - he isn't going anywhere. All I hear from him is that he wants to stay at Saints for his entire career. So 25% of nothing.

 

The last I heard from Lallana was that he wants to play in the Champions League. Obviously I'm sure he'd prefer it was with us, but if the players don't feel like it's a real ambition of ours any more then I'd not be surprised if his old "Southampton for life" view had changed.

 

Well indeed, then we get back to that chestnut as to whether the ambition is as clear as it was several months ago. It's more important to the players than us - their future careers depend upon it. If they lose belief, that's it.
