i'm sure he is and i agree he deserves lots of credit. I think he might be more likely to be pragmatic about scaling back the plan than our other key staff though.

I don't think the players are involved. I think some one is saying crap to the papers.

Someone needs to work on the players' script though. The ambiguity is feeding it. Les Reed's statement was good but it's easily overlooked.

Isn't this "ghost of Cortese" stuff a little bit conspiracy theory-ish? Don't you think he's got better things to do with his time?

Not saying it is Cortese. All I am saying some one is doing it.

Not sure anyone needs to feed em crap. They seem perfectly capable of plucking crap from thin air.

Sherwood-aside, I think Poch would be a step backwards for Spurs and what they're trying to achieve. They need to be competing for candidates on the clubs above them's manager shortlists. Poch is still unproven, and choices like that he made in the FA Cup must count against him.

And any manager who jumps ship for Spurs deserves all he gets - in all likelihood less than a season in the job, failure, and a job in the wilderness of the Eastern Bloc (highly paid, regardless). Almost guaranteed - as sure as Arsenal's season arc happens the same way every year, Spurs' epic failure to achieve their targets will continue to roll on, and each successive short-term manager will continue to take the fall for the real culprit.

Would be a crime against football if this team is dismantled as the result of Poch going to Spurs for 3-4 months.

    Other people were.

Isn't more likely that it's simply United briefing the media about Shaw (as indicated by journalists when Reed addressed them), and now Liverpool talking about Lallana, because they are interested in signing them, rather than some concerted effort by one party to undermine us?

Show by doing, rather than promising, seems to be the way of it going forward. I'm optimistic for the summer, however I think we're in for rumour and speculation right up until the window ****s again. :D

EDIT: Now, I wrote '****s' above, and was very conscious of it, then looked at it again before posting it and thought "Yep! That's right!". 'Shuts'. I really meant 'shuts'.

Couple of the senior staff within the club followed him out, and a few who were going to leave, stayed - most notably Gareth Rogers.

David Bick worked for Cortese as a media consultant and PR guy, yeah.

Seems like Frank de Boer is now the favourite for the Spurs job.

Suggests that Gareth Rogers may have been one of the people rumoured to have contacted Katharina complaining about Nicola. He was due to leave that month, then he stayed, and then got his feet properly under the table. Also suggests that the financial problems weren't down to Rogers...presumably, Nicola wouldn't listen to him.

From what I have been told, it was a couple of rather large sponsors or potential sponsors that complained to Katharina via her PR firm about Nicola's behaviour.

Obviously that made her a little more curious.

On your Rogers note, someone on SaintsWeb said they'd already bought him a leaving present at the club, and then he stayed!

As I said on the Prem thread. I have never thought Pochettino was a choice.

Think we are flavour of the season. Team needs a manager...they must be after Mauricio. Team has money...they must want Shaw or Lallana. Not to say that there isn't interest, but doubt we are under as much of a siege as papers would have us think. There are other players and managers around.
