We shouldn't panic too much...they are on contracts. No way will a mass exodus be permitted. Also believe that Mauricio is an honourable man...if he isn't given permission to talk to another club, he will see his contract out. The rate that managers get sacked indicates that another job will be along in a minute even if he stays here.

Granted, i meant more his general view that the board need to show ambition to keep them both.

it was worse than that actually, the context was glenn hoddle, because tottenham is pochettino's spiritual home, obviously ;)

yeah it's a tough proposition. les reed made the right noises about improving next season but it may not go far enough for the manager or players.

I'm not going to worry about it until the summer transfer window is drawing to a close.

Used to like Matty Oakley. Shame he's now had to go on my "**** off" list after that.

Almost agree with him, but most fans wouldn't necessarily agree that you have to take Spurs if they come calling. We are not the same club as when Matt was here...we have more ambition and I can see us being a Spurs/Everton type team if progress continues. We are not privy to behind the scenes at Southampton...perhaps Mauricio can see a better fit for him here than at Spurs (despite their greater funding). Money isn't everything when it comes to a job....if you spend most of your waking hours at work, it's good to enjoy it. I don't know, but I don't accept that it is a given that Mauricio would leave for a bigger club.

Worrying about how long it took Matty to recover from his knee injury, but surgery has probably moved on since he had an op and he may have complications that JRod won't.

Spurs will have several possible candidates...bookies and pundits get it wrong all the time. Remember that we thought we couldn't survive Nigel leaving...hope Mauricio stays (in fact I pray he does) but the club is bigger than any single person.

    I'm on 5 a day already!

The problem with being a football fan is that you wish your life away. Only April and I want to get to the end of the transfer window already. Hope MP sorts it all out at the beginning of the summer, but betting they drag it on and then he signs a new contract at the very end of the summer.

I said a week ago it wouldn't surprise me if Saints made a big thing out of Pochettino signing a new contract in the off season.

Sorry, it was badly worded on my part. I just think we're all fairly accepting that the board need to show ambition (in more than words) for us to retain MP and key players. That much appears pretty clear.

I don't think anyone is throwing out the baby with the bathwater. It's like the conversation with PTF the other day - accepting and looking at the various scenarios does not necessarily imply agreement with them. It's just examining the "what if" of the set of cards that could be dealt.

I still think Pochettino and the players will stay. All the talk (behind the scenes) is everyone is happy and there is no hint of any one being unsettled players or manager wise. The guy I know says he has heard nothing but positive stuff so far and there isn't a hint that Pochettino wants to go(Not saying it won't change etc).

Some one is obviously feeding the media **** to try and unsettle our players. I hope it isn't anything to do with Cortese.

if it is cortese could the manager and players arguably be co-operating in seeding doubt?

    tin foil hat firmly on.

the only practical outcome for that would be cortese coming back because it's not likely they'd all leave to the same place.

Now i'll always be grateful to Nicola for his role in the club's rise from the ashes, but I've heard that a lot of the staff are happier since he left.

i'm sure, but are the key staff members who bought into his plan happier?

Les Reed is, and he has played, arguably, just as an important role as Nicola has, as the man that has advised on all football matters since 2009.
