Actually, the hysteria is getting underway quite nicely. The pot was simmering, but it is slowly coming to the boil. As to the rest of what you say, you could point to [practically..?] every player in Saints squad.

 

But true. Even if Luke wanted to go and has agreed a contract. Until Saints agree a deal nothing will happen(majorly). We just need to wait and see what happens instead of saying the same stuff over and over.

I don't think his value is inflated. In the world where players like Neymar cost around 100 mil, Shaw for 30 is a bargain.

So, er, why hasn't he given Pochettino the brief to say "Shaw won't be sold"? Or even said it himself in his many interviews? If his quotes were supposed to give people the message that he won't be sold, then why would he not just say it - unless of course, he's deliberately giving himself a huge amount of wiggle room.

And some won't be... Betrayed by whom? The club or the player? The only people who could consider themselves 'betrayed' are those who have enterpreted the comments as we will not sell.

The club, and yes you're right, the people who feel betrayed will be the ones who have interpreted those comments as "we will not sell". All I'm saying is there will be a lot of those people. Perhaps not the majority, but a lot.

 

Is your foot finally recovered then..? Has it had it's going-back-into-sock/shoe party yet..?

I won't feel betrayed, that's far too strong a word for me. Disappointed, after all the words. Realistic, that the club weren't prepared to follow on from Cortese's vision, which was astounding if allowed to continue. By the way, that shortfall. Hot air really, wasn't it, when you consider how much will be earned in just this season of PL participation..?

My disappointment won't be the problem, or possibly the disappointment of other fans. It will be the disappointment of players who have been fed the dream, and that disappointment could easily lead to them leaving, and ultimately Poch leaving. Then you are back to a financially well run club with no ambition. A bit like Lowe and Co, but with pots of money. Bit of a damp fizzle out after 5 years of huge momentum.
