I don't believe we were ever in for him. I think it was a rumour made up on his end to get his name out there. The quoted price was just so unrealistic.

 

He was then said to be signing for Roma by his agent.... but it never happened.

 

The puzzling thing was the Gaston interview, but yes, it was a ridiculous price

 

From what I've seen of him, he'll be lucky to ever leave the Uruguayan league.

 

Is this Cortese leaving his deal on the table and walking away tactic again? Would be made up with Osvaldo despite his atitude, think our tight knit team would sort him out. Also read today that Flamini is in England for talks with us, it was only on twitter so probably some spotty teen making up rumours again but i would be made up if it was the case.

 

That would be an incredible signing for them if it comes off. He's very, very good.

 

I wouldn't - I'm all for positional competition but I can't help but feel that'd be overkill.

 

You don't think it would be an improvement then? You also have to take in to consideration injuries and suspensions, If one of Wanyama/Cork/Schneiderlin get injured and then one picks up a suspension at the same time we would be left short, plus competition would be immense

 

We already have Ward-Prowse and Davis to provide backup there if required. Five players to fill two spots is plenty of competition.

 

You can say that for literally any position, though. What if Boruc gets suspended while Kelv and Gazza both get injuries in training? Better buy two or three more keepers just in case.

 

Osvaldo wants Inter though. So in this saga, Liverpool will be played by capable actor Inter, whilst taking the place of the spurned lover, Everton, will be Wolfsburg.

It certainly is but its IMPROVEMENT, its all about building a bigger and better squad imo

 

I agree with that, but other positions are in much greater need of strengthening, Flamini would demand a big salary, and he would not be happy to be a backup.

 

Amongst talk of Flamini and wingers and whatever else, I have to say if you said we could have Osvaldo and then be done for the window, I'd snap your hand off.
