Not seen any pics of Cortese out in Spain since the first 2 days, surely he is up to something?

 

Judging by his picture, he could have done with some gym work (or a decent bra).

Agreed, i think he could do with some team building to so he calls in love with the club, if he hasn't already. Hope they all smother him when he turns up like they did in the team building

 

Not being patronising because I used to write a bit, but I have to say that you are getting better and better, DTLW. Gets easier as you do it. I enjoyed that.

 

I imagine he was only there for the first day, why would he stay for longer? He can't exactly join in....

 

I agree but it's his club as much as anyone else's, i'm sure chairmen like to keep an eye on their managers?

 

Napoli have agreed a fee with Madrid for Higuain, supposedly €35 million. Arsenal being awesome in the transfer market again. Would be hilarious if

Suarez > Madrid
Higuain > Napoli
Rooney > Chelsea
Villa > Atletico

Arsenal and Spurs left with nobody except for what they currently have. Could probably throw Falcao and Cavani in the list above as well but I don't think either had a chance of getting them.

 

I understand a couple of the players (at least) who have been told they can leave are less than happy about their current situation. The club is doing very little to make any outgoing transfers happen. In fact, one of them has had 3 offers from different clubs, but Saints have not even replied to those clubs saying yes, no, or anything.

Not sure if this means all transfers go through Cortese and he's only focused on buying players at the moment. You'd think Les Reed would handle some of the "smaller" deals?

Hopefully not true as most of these players contributed heavily to us getting into the Prem and deserve better than being an after-thought.

 

Nicola was only there probably for Shaw announcement, then moved on to wherever the next target is. Anyone in Spain that we are interested in? Apart from signings, there must be a lot for him to do as a CEO...sacking builders for a start...never mind finding a replacement for Sammy Saint and the Academy head (could combine the two and save money).

 

Perhaps Cortese is making sure they have their upgrades in before they get rid of them?

 

Mauricio made some comment about it being up to them to find a club, but we should be doing something to facilitate it. In everybody's interest and, as you said, they deserve help.

 

I doubt it. They've been told to find other clubs and apparently aren't training with any of our squads.

 

Not defending Cortese (because I am sure he is capable of being unpleasant!), but perhaps he feels that they have sat on their contracts too long and now they should just go. They are perfectly entitled to insist their contracts are adhered to and it is in everyone's interest to facilitate their moves.

 

Higuain potentially going to Napoli would presumably mean their interest in Damiao will decrease/end.

 

W e have had 3-4 days now of no rumours whatsoever after being linked to everyone. I'm not overly fussed but it would br nice to have something to get us excited again. The fact that most of the hard work is being done pre-season now must come into it too.

 

Well I'll reply to your article, -DTLW at least. Hmm, who do didn't a bit of proof reading then..? I spotted a 'than than' as in... They're on and off more often than than your kettle. Also, this is a bit clumsy, imo... At any level, trying to land the top talent for your level...

If you had written your piece just for reading here I would be just saying that it was a good read. As it is for general interest and viewing, and beneath an official publication banner, I think it's as well to get the grammar a bit tidier. As I say though, enjoyable read, as are all your articles.

 

The 'than than' is clumsy. The other bit was intended to be inclusive of lower levels from what started as a Saints-related rant.

On the level front, I'd just use an alternative word instead of a second use so soon afterwards. After all, that's the usual journalistic practice.

And deflect blame all you want matey. It's your name on the piece.
