When I talk about the likes of Rooney, Cantona and Keane, I'm not discussing them as isolated incidents and comparing them with what Suarez did. I'm referring to the way their club and manager stuck with him, which led to years of success. We should do the same.

Four would be reasonable. Any more and it's official; biting is worse than Terry's racism.

I think he will get 7 matches which is in line with how the Dutch FA handled it before, and also the 'trial by media'.

However, you do make a good point about Terry's racism ...

He'll get more than 4. You trying to tie other incidents to this one, does you no favours.

Joey Barton got 12 for his party piece last season, so was his act worse than Suarez racist abuse?

He'll get somewhere between 6-10 imo, so prepare to whinge.

This biting thing has completely taken the focus on just how bad we were yesterday as a team. I don't know that, even today, an analysis can be properly underatken but some critical questions were asked by Chelsea.

I have been really impressed with the Liverpool support today I have to say. 99% of you have been sensible and logical about this.
Always a couple that ruin it but never mind.
Astroturfnaut especially, who wanted Hazard castrated for kicking a ball out from underneath a ball boy.
Where as Suarez bites someone and he thinks a yellow card is a suitable punishment "because there is precedent".

To reiterate, Liverpool need to help the lad and keep him, because if you can get him straight, you have one hell of a footballer.

That 12 was the cumulative effect of three separate charges added together <doh>

The yellow card comment was just in response to the hysteria and comments suggesting this had never happened before in football. I think a 4 game ban would be a reasonable starting point and wouldn't complain if it were a bit more.

I'm also impressed with the way LFC have handled this - publicly condemned Suarez and issued statement quickly, and fined him. Suarez has apologised and asked for the fine to be donated to the Hillboro Family Support Group. Issue is certainly not over, but it shows that we have learnt our lessons.

It is a strange situation that we find ourselves in as fans, no doubt we need to deal with his behaviour but do we go as far as selling him? I'm on the side of keep him but cannot argue against those who want him out.

It's all a matter of opinion. Some people have personal ethos or can't handle another controversy, which means they would rather not have him at the club. I could never contest that as I respect their opinion.

I know, but all in the same game & it blows your 'lesser crime than racism' whinge out of the water.

He's going to get a lengthy ban & he bleeding deserves it, as what he did has no place on a football field & the FA will ensure that message is hammered home imo.

I'm not sure opposition fans calling for him to be banned is pathetic though Dave, do you ?

It should just be accepted that he has done wrong and then let the club and FA sort it out. I'm sure he won't be sold, why would he ? He will serve a ban and the club will stick by him and righly so for the time being.

I did say some of the defences have been pathetic not all.

Yes he deserves some form of ban from the FA. However, I've listened and read supporters of other clubs and pundits go as far as saying that he should be "banned from all football". I am also sick of hearing others telling our club management what they should do - they would be very very quiet if it were their club.

Having said he deserves an FA ban, I would find it amusing if the FA ruled they are not able to take any action.

Yes, after the debacle of the T shirts & the PR disaster that ensued throughout that saga, I must say they've dealt with this superbly so far & deserve credit for it.

Banned from football ? <laugh>

That's just the bandwagon jumpers who just love this sort of ****.

John Terry got a lesser ban because the FA couldnt prove he had done anything wrong, but felt that his defence was too weak to be conclusive.

Suarez is caught red handed.
And yes, imo, a physical assault is always worse than a verbal one.

No it doesn't. No one in the world would consider it strange that the punishments for numerous lesser offences can add up to more than 1 greater offence.

Are you claiming that Suarez did more than 1 thing in the game he should be punished for?

Anger management is what i need after just reading the BBc's gossip column. The football editor of the Sun, some slug called Howard, apparently, believes our good name depends on selling Suarez. That's right, the paper that kept mackenzie for all those years despite his proven lies and slurs over a whole host of subjects including, but far from exclusively, Hillsborough, are now in a position to moralise. And that's without mentioning phone-hacking teenage murder victims, bribing police and politicians, and co-ercing judges and broadcasting commissioners. The Mail too - the paper that supported Hitler - has never missed an opportunity to climb on a passing high horse, and they don't disappoint now.

Luis, you're a **** and you've brought this on all of us. It's a long, long way back from here, and i personally suspect you've played your last game for us, as the press are again using the 'threat to the worldwide brand/reputation' gambit to try and force FSG to bottle-it, as they successfully did last time when they feebly backed down over the Evra business. Ever since you tore United to shreds two years ago at Anfield your card has been marked; they gave you the gun and you've pulled the trigger. Moron.

As for next season - even if he stays the media and 'forces' within football will ensure a readily compliant FA ban him so long he won't be playing till October/November anyway. We saw what the effect of ****ing up our transfer policy over strikers had this season - we didn't get going till january when sturridge came, if we did at all (btw, in all chaos of yesterday, why did Brendan leave out Studge AT HOME and play 5 in midfield? - shades of rafa at his most cautious). Hope Brendan realises we need Carroll back next season, but i suspect we'll be saying 'next season' half way through next season - again.
