I get the impression that Man Utd players have a nickname for Patrice Evra (Possibly 'Pak' or something to that effect) that coming from teammates and colleagues is taken as harmless, pleasant banter. But taken from an opponent in a game where Evra was undoubtedly already extremely frustrated would not have been received with quite such good grace. I think it very possible that during the game Suarez would have taken this as a great way to wind Evra up, with no racial hatred behind it. I think it is much ado about nothing in all honesty - If Suarez was actually racist I highly doubt he would be dull enough to show his hatred by calling Evra racist names on a pitch that he knew was covered with TV cameras. He wasnt to know whether a camera would catch him at it or not. To that extent, whilst Blatter was extremely naiive in publicly declaring there is no problem with racism, events do have to be taken in context. Craig Bellamy gets called a sheep s****** in every away ground in the country. I seem to remember seeing a video of John Terry calling Tevez an argie c*** during the champions league final. Im pretty sure players exchange all sort of insults every minute of every game, a lot of which I imagine relate to all sorts of things. Materazzi told Zidane he would do unspeakable things to his mother and sister. I am really not defending racists. I am definitely not saying it is ok to make comments about the colour of somebody's skin. If there is any genuine feeling behind it then it is quite tragic and pitiful. But if you punished and sanctioned every 'wrong' thing that players said to each other on a football pitch you would run out of paper from processing it.
I was only basing that on what Suarez has apparently said - words to the effect of 'they (the united players) called evra something so I used that nane.' As I said, Im pretty sure he knew that Evra wouldnt like it, but I dont think any player every says anything to an opponent with their feelings in consideration.
fergie keeps commenting on the case before then saying he is not allowed comment on the case - he then says that he has abided by the request for silence from the fa but liverpool are not - the mans' hypocrisy knows no bounds - his denial of making comments was made on the same tv channel that he made his original statement about suarez - unbelievable
