I'd like to see us go for Marco Reus. Would cost a lot, and other top teams would be interested but I reckon we could get him if we tried properly, none of this half hearted Ian Ayre negotiating "X player is worth £20m, we'll offer £5m" type ****.
I'd love Reus but are we really a more attractive proposition than Dortmund now? Especially as they'll be desperate to keep hold of him after losing Lewand. If we were actually able to raid Dortmund I think I'd prefer Hummels anyway, although not exactly replacing Suarez he would go a long way to fixing things at the back.
Reus isn't going to happen. May as well have said Messi! However, if you';re going to push the boat out for a player of that calibre then I'd go for Muller. Equally as likely!
I'd love Reus too, said in the Transfer thread that I'd love him but I agree, can we offer a lot more than Dortmund atm? Probably not, but we should still try tbh.
Mirror are reporting Barkley to City for £25m. We could top that by £10m? Better than Sanchez for that money, imo.
We've got lambert who can sit in the box and knock the ball into the goal. He can also create chances too, is used to the PL and was far cheaper. Not saying he's better, but he fits that role and has more strings to his bow. Mandzukic is effectively a glorified goal hanger.
Lambert is a squad player, Shaqiri would be a first teamer for us, especially if we switched back to 433 after Suarez ****s off.
Pretty sure Sanchez is not happening for us. TV3 and AS in Spain saying it's between Arsenal and Juve.
I actually think you need two players to replace him, one creative winger/midfielder (Lallana?) and a top striker. The only problem with this is the dynamic/formation of the team will have to change meaning you may have to completely re-jig your midfield.
I'm guessing the Suarez money will go on Markovic, Moreno and a central defender, maybe Lovren. And if that prediction comes true I'm going to be gutted.
Possibly not. But I am sure he would get a big pay increase joining us. And he would increase his chances of winning domestic & european honours as Dortmund are unlikely to break the Bayern dominance in their league anytime soon, especially if they keep signing their best players.
Dortmund have won "domestic honours" very recently and (in my opinion) have more chance of a European trophy than Liverpool present.
