I though Real already signed Falcoa. Edit: Google tells me the deal is not finished. Could we get Lamela? and would you want Lamela?
Anyone looking at a Suarez replacement and expecting the quality to be replaced is in for a shock. News flash... It ain't happening!!
We'll sign to strengthen the team that does not have Suarez in it. But some one will come in to fill the hole.
Yep, we'll sign a few and a take a slightly different approach and we'll sign another attacker too but we won't replace Suarez's quality, effort, energy and desire with a single player!
Apparently Mario Mandzukic is off to Atletico for around £13M, that seems like great value for a good goal scorer.
I think if we start replacing Suarez with players of that quality we'll struggle to finish in the top 4 next season. We need to sign a game changer to replace Suarez. I don't think going for other people's reserves/fringe players will cut it.
To be fair Manzucich was first choice at Bayern until recently and Bayern are possibly the best team in the world. Shaqiri is just a squad player there but every one wants him. Sanchez is only a squad player at Barca.
Guess that's Sanchez and Shaqiri out as well then! Also Mandzukic was only sold because they signed Lewandowski and let's be honest Bayern's squad players are first teamers for most teams in the world.
Sanchez fair point, but if we sign Shaqiri to replace Suarez I think everyone would rightly be annoyed.
Because we'd be making the same mistake Spurs made. Replace quality with quality, not quantity. In my opinion anyway. (Quantity as in Lallana, Lambert & Shaqiri, as an example)
He might have been first choice, but he wasn't exactly irreplaceable. He knocked goals in, he couldn't create for others and he couldn't create something from nothing. They couldn't wait to sign a better quality striker to give them more options up front. Shaqiri is a squad player because Bayern are blessed with options, but he is also a game changer and that's why people want him. Suarez changes games and leads by example with his drive and desire to win.
Beat me to it. Needs to be someone that isn't a reserve and will never be replaced in the first team no matter what club they're at. Only a handful of those players in the world but can't see us getting Messi, C.Ronaldo, Robben, Neymar, etc...
As has been said, we won't be signing someone for £40m-£50m as a direct replacement. We'll get 2 or 3 players with that money and strengthen the squad as a whole. Can go one of two ways, yes you might lose that individual spark but hopefully in those games where he wasn't the best and we didn't have anyone else to sub on to make a difference, hopefully with 2 or 3 quality players instead, you can make the change if 1 isn't perfoming and have options on the bench.
