UIR You really are absolutely desperate to see Suarez banned arent you,Its bodering on embarressing how much you want it to happen, its really quite sad!! Your bordering on being obsessed with the subject
I've seen the negro explanation referred to quite a lot on various sites including caughtoffside, goal etc. Was probably only a matter of time before a mainstream paper picked it up. It sounds fairly plausible to me - Suarez could have been saying "calm down, negro" in the same way an English person might say "calm down, mate" and Evra just misunderstood him. But I dunno Spanish at all so I have no idea if that would be usual usage. Although the one thing that does seem strange in all this is that if that is Suarez' excuse, why is Dalglish saying Evra should be banned? It's plausible Suarez could have said negro and meant it in a non offensive way, but then it's also plausible Evra could have interpreted it an offensive way, being the temperamental little cheese eating surrender monkey that he is. In which case it's just a misunderstanding and surely it could be best cleared up by a public statement saying the two players just got their wires crossed. I don't see how you can call for Evra to be banned on that basis.
read today that the fa have still not talked to suarez about the allegation - who is investigating this? inspector clouseau
Inspector Clouseau has reached levels of investigative ability that the FA can only dream of. Remember, an offence is only an offence if it occurs within a yard of a TV camera
The delays in the investigations only add to the rumours and counter rumours - can't believe they allowed the john terry one drag on as he is the england captain and there are internationals coming up - if it is not cleared up before the next international, i can see terry being asked some very difficult questions at press conferences - will he be paired with rio at centre back and how will rio feel about it
The English FA will now convenietly use the Suarez/Evra case to lessen the blow to JT's England captaincy, the Suarez allegation will be hard to prove wheras JT could be clearly seen mouthing the alleged racism. The FA will simply say the two cases were unproven and those involved have been warned and JT will be free to do his international job and Suarez will be the sacrificial lamb and have the allegation hanging over his head for the rest of his career.
Should calling someone a 'black' whatever constitute racism? I mean, obviously the n word does, but the case isn't as strong for 'black'. If you asked Anton Ferdinand his skin colour, he'd say black (although he's actually as white as he is black, anyway...) It's not supposed to be a provocation question, btw. It just seems a little odd to me.
Imo if JT thinks/thought Anton Ferdinand is a "****" he does'nt need to preceed "****" with the lads skin colour, and its pure racism if he did. I cant see him telling his team-mates "push out you black and white ****s" when defending etc.
I must admit I have always found it strange that including somebodies racial group in an insult makes it much worse in the eyes of the law/punishing bodies. Eg. Calling somebody a f.....ing tw@ is bad enough but it is really that much worse if you call them a f.....ing black tw@
It's a good point tbh - you are only racist if you imply one race is somehow inferior (or superior) to others, or you discriminate against a race. The general argument in these cases is if Terry had been talking to Carragher, for example, he wouldn't have called him an ******* white ****. Nor would he have called Vidic a ******* Slavic ****, Suarez a ******* Hispanic **** (probably) and so on. So you can argue he is discriminating against Ferdinand by using his race in an insulting manner and hence it's racist. Tho' people do take it too far - I remember John Motson a while ago saying he found it difficult to tell black players apart when commentating. He was accused of being a racist, even tho' it's been widely known since 1914 that people struggle to tell people of a different race to themselves apart if they haven't had much experience at it. There was a good South Park episode about that a while ago. It made the point that often accusations of racism can exaggerate the issue and hide underlying problems. Like you say, should we just accept that footballers swear like troopers at each other as long as they aren't racist. And the whole "kick racism out" campaign conveniently hides the massive amount of homophobia and other discrimination that goes on in football.
IF the FA have not already interviewed Suarez then either, they have already decided that there is no case to answer or, The Head of the FA should be called to book to explain the tardiness in the enquiry. The fact that the Terry case has arisen since the complaint was lodged with the FA is of no consequence as the two cases are not related and any attempt to make them so would probably result in legal challenge from either Evra or Suarez. This delay is merely creating an environment in which sources such as caughtoffside can float any form of hypothetical explanation as 'potential' fact. I strongly doubt that Suarez would have given any interview on this subject as he would have been advised by, the club, probably both the FA and the PFA and his own lawyers not to do so. Knowing the media that we have, if there had been any video or audio evidence available then they would have punlished it by now. Equally, if any other player had provided corroberative evidence then that would have been made known by now. The abscence of banner headlines on these points speaks for itself. If the FA do try and give a not-proven ruling with a warning as to future conduct ruling for both players they leave themselves open to a refferal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport - and that refferal does not have to be made by either LFC or Suarez.
Its not in the Times according to Tony Evans, who writes for them. I think someone has been stirring the pot on twitter or somewhere similar.
http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/new...rice-Evra-has-been-blocked-article822175.html Story in the sunday mirror Contains the usual phrases, " after it emerged" "But the Mirror understands " etc In the old days of journalism this used to mean they had a contact they could not name, nowdays it means that they have just copied stuff off twitter.
