So United were on a good run of form when you played them? Full of confidence etc etc? Were they bollocks. Why pick 7 games when looking at our run of form but 11 when looking at Uniteds? Conveniently fits your (non) argument doesn't it They'd drawn two before playing you (games they probably would expect to win, especially given how shambolic we made spurs look) and lost the one after as well....so as I stated you got them at a good time, which relative to playing United any other time in the past twenty years can most definitely be classed as a good time to play them. Don't take offence to that you big tart I'm quite happy to admit we got them at a good time at Anfield (new manager etc) as we did with the spuds at no heart lane.
They'd just drawn 2-2 at Spurs & beaten Leverkusen away the previous mid week (who were 2nd in the Bundesliga) in their best performance of the season, of course they were in form ffs. The reason I mentioned 11 (it was actually 12) as that was the number they were unbeaten before we played them - to make out they were playing poorly at the time is nads fella. I mentioned your previous 7, as that is also the length of your unbeaten run
I didn't say they were playing poorly did I? I said it was a good time to play them which isn't nads now is it? This is the worst performing united team I've seen in years. You can present a few wins and draws as evidence against that but it makes no odds to me because I know that, in relative terms it was a great time to play them. They were garbage against us and equally as bad against yourselves but that's relative to how they usually play of course. As I said before you probably don't remember but you can take Euro games out of the equation because a) you weren't playing them in a European competition (as if ) and b) it bares no relation to league form which is where they've been not so good. So taking the league games before you played them (let's say 11 games as you like that number when it suits your argument) they had 5 wins, 3 draws, 3 defeats. Scintilating form for the current champions eh. Or we could take the last 11 games if you like....6 wins, 3 draws, 2 defeats. Slightly better but again hardly ground breaking is it. So basically any of us can hand pick numbers to try and prove this, that or the other but I would still argue (rightly) that you got them at a good time, when they weren't playing particullarly well and the manager/players were under a whole load of pressure. I didn't 'hand pick' any numbers ffs. You said it was a good time to play them, I merely looked at their previous results & saw they'd actually gone 12 unbeaten before that game, so your comment was wrong - simple as. You looking to justify it by saying 'compared to previous United sides' is another matter all together, but bares no relation to current form & if that's your yardstick then everyone who plays them this season is doing so "at the right time".
I note your list ends before they went to Leverkusen & your review of those results wouldn't have been just ever so slightly bitter & biased would it?
Sorry for not reviewing games that hadn't happened yet Yeah so after the "unbeaten" run of 9, they then had draws against Cardiff and Spurs so that's some top form isn't it? So your whole argument for your Man Utd win not being at a good time is that a couple of games ago they had had a freak good game against a weak Leverkusen team
