I read what you were responding to but that's no excuse for waffling on stating the bleeding obvious. I guess (in fairness) it depends what you define as the "run in" but for me that starts end of Feb not the end of December. Pedantics aside however....the simple fact is I don't care who we've beaten in the last 7 particullarly. Of course City away and Chavs away will be tougher games but we've put ourselves into a better position before those games by winning (most of) the fixtures put in front of us? Would you give your team no credit for their results against Fulham, Stoke or Swansea?? Hardly "overly taxing" either but had you not won them you wouldn't be in such a good position.....same as us. I agree about your fixtures and really, given the run you've got you should be expecting near maximum points until you play us and should be top of the league. Anything less will be a real disappointment surely. You should by rights be ahead of us come the derby....and you will have to be really, seeing as you've forgotten how to beat us
Given the choice between finishing seventh or finishing eighth and winning a trophy (albeit, a **** one), I'd chose the latter. They both get you into the Europa League as a result but one puts something in a wooden cabinet!
Don't see how a team that hasn't managed to win a single trophy in 18 years can afford to turn their nose up at any trophy Everton really do have delusions of grandeur
Digest this?. Wink Everton - PL winners 2014? As an academic exercise, based on current league positions, current form and looking at the fixtures remaining against the top 9 teams, it seems to me that Everton have the best chance of winning the league! Conversely, the three London teams have the hardest fixtures! Accordingly, the end of season table could be: - 1. Everton 2. Man Utd 3. Man City 4. Liverpool 5. Newcastle 6. Southampton 7. Arsenal 8. Chelsea 9. Tottenham No doubt this will result in howls of derision from London supporters, Untd haters, etc, but it is only early days! http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/241562-Everton-PL-winners-2014
So? Oxford Huddersfield, Leicester, Burnley, Blackburn and Palace are the ones who let them get there. We played Exeter, Brighton & Hove, Stoke, Chelsea and Man City, every one of them away except the second leg against City. Sorry we couldn't magically knock Cardiff out of the competition at an earlier stage
We'd forgotten how to beat United at Old Toilet as well mate...... As for our fixture list, I'm taking nothing for granted. We've massively over performed up to press this season, given the management change etc. So to be where we are is a huge bonus. It could easily go pear, so I'll leave the daft predictions to you lot....
That's the thing though isn't it. As much as you'd love us to be getting carried away....we really aren't. That's why I'm not sure why you're ramblin' on 99% of us have been completely realistic about where we are and how we got there. Fair point about the mancs but let's be honest you got them at a great time....not particullarly "over taxing" Not sure you'll find Suarez as forgiving as the manc strikers were.
Eh? They were unbeaten in 11 games in all competitions when we went to OT. They'd beaten Leverkusen 5-0 away the previous week............... As for "99% of us have been completely realistic", check out the prediction thread & come back to me mate Not even thinking about the derby yet, long way off
Everton have Sunderland and Southampton at home and Stoke away over the holidays period. On paper easy games, but they must not take it for granted they are going to win them all.
come on Borini you useless twat, do us a favour Saints blow hot and cold, hopefully the right one will turn up. Crouchy to do us a favour as well
They'd drawn two and then lost two league games (including yours) but engage your brain and you'll know that my comment was slightly tongue in cheek. However....you know as well as I do that having already had defeats to West Brom and us, a thrashing from City and draws to Saints and Chelsea, for United that IS a pretty poor run of form. I aslo think I'd probably better explain (as you have probably forgotten) that Euro form doesn't always reflect domestic form
As as been pointed out numerous times, they are not all realistic predictions. A lot have admitted to not being able to predict a bad result for Liverpool. some have even started considering it a superstition. Hardly a gauge of the fans optimism is it?
Sunderland haven't scored an away goal in the League since August! Southampton haven't won an away game since September.................. Not looking forward to a wet & windy Brit on New Years Day though.....pikey ****ers they are....
11 games unbeaten isn't a poor run of form mate. They'd had a few poor results early doors & had drawn a few, but their last home game before we went there, they beat Arsenal ffs. Newcastle hit them again as they got back up off the canvas, but they've won 4 games on the bounce since.
People only talk about being "unbeaten" when their number of wins isn't so impressive Drawing against Sociedad and Cardiff is poor form
My mistake it was actually 12 games not 11..... 7 wins & 5 draws = poor form? When the wins include Arsenal & Leverkusen 5-0 away?
