As people have said this is a win win for Liverpool.

His wages only go up next year.
One presumes that unless we get CL then he wont stay. Therefore we only increase our wage expenditure if we make the CL and therefore have more money.
If he does leave he is on a massive contract so Real would have to buy him out, with current market values (Bale) then its going to have to be around the same.

Plus- Keeping Suarez is something that helps bring in other quality players.

Great news. Hopefully he celebrates by bagging a hatrick tomorrow.

I hope we dont go silly on buying players now, but just improve the squad slowly in a sustainable way. There is great team spirit in our squad and i wouldnt want that to be displaced by bringing in too many players in one go. (cough) Tottenham

The wages will eventually rise to £200k/week. Man Utd must feel like right mugs paying Rooney and RVP each £250k/week right now for doing **** all.

i dunno. this contract probably has a real release clause in it (£50m or so) instead of the last one's farcical clause.
any club that has champions league and comes in will probably be able to get him without any say-so from liverpool

the only farcical ones was Arsenal football club thinking they was exploiting some clause in his contract with their piss take £1 offer.

may explain why its quite easy for them to lose their star players if they are that thick with player contracts <whistle>

A very impressive deal. Clearly we are a more exciting prospect and team than a year ago. This deal ensures we will get max value for him If WE decide to sell him in the summer and signifies intent. Plus it's bloody attractive for potential signings to see this

It is a strange feeling moving in the RIGHT direction after years of bad ownership, poor managers, poor buys and contracts, etc.

  15. Great news but I don't think it changes much bar our bargaining position. Hopefully it will help us sign other players too.

Good news: My signature is staying put and I don't have to change my username!!! <diva>

Bad news: Bale signed a new deal before leaving Spurs :bandit:

I think FSG deserve a bit of credit now for the way they have handled the club over the last couple of seasons, they took a bit of stick early on but I think its now safe to say we are in good hands and moving in the right direction.

Right that secures his services until the end of the season and places a very high tariff on his head for after the World Cup. So far so good. The question is now, how will this news effect Liverpool's actions in the coming transfer window? Will they spend to get key targets or will they conserve their resources on the basis that they believe they already have enough resources to secure a top 4 finish?

    Wow this is ****ing immense!
    Absolutely fantastic news.

And for all those dull mother****ing party poopers- WE ARE GETTING CL FOOTBALL THIS YEAR, THEREFORE HE'S NOT LEAVING!

Im absolutely confident that if we qualify, he's would stay. why would he even extend his contract otherwise. But im sure theres a cl clause in there, but im not too worried about that, It would be a huge dissapointment to not qualify for CL after such a good start.

The only club that in the world that could his price is Madrid but they shot themselves in the foot with the Bale transfer, they set the benchmark and now they would have to break the record transfer again to get a significantly better player and that's definitely not happening next summer.

If so, that would make a huge mockery of FFP. There's no way in hell they would shell out another 100million and 250k wages the very next summer, not happening.

So i can safely say he's here for the long run. Get a solid DM in jan and we could be challenging for the title.
