    He undoubtedly needs help. We must remember though, he is not the victim here. He has been receiving treatment since the Ivanovic incident. With that in mind, maybe the question is more, are the authorities like FIFA and the PL doing the right thing letting him keep playing and reintegrating into the game while this process is ongoing. Is that hyped up adrenalin fueled environment the right place to help battle his demons?

    I struggle to have much sympathy for him I must confess. All this harking back to his hard upbringing and his inability to deal with pressure may have some merit. He is a grown man with children though, he knows what is right and wrong. We search and search for some way to excuse humans for almost anything they do, holding onto the hope that nobody is just evil or does evil things. For me he is just a bit of a dirty **** who will never change. He'll always bend the rules with diving etc, and he'll always be prone to lashing out and crossing the line of acceptable. He is what he is regardless how much counselling/help you give him.

    No need for sympathy. The fact that he's mentally ill doesn't mean he isn't an asshole. It just would be in everyone's interest for him to receive professional help before he steps back on a pitch.

    Is it mental illness or is he just a bit of a **** who is beyond help though? I see no remorse in the lad. Like many of lifes offenders, I suspect he will continue to re-offend. His is low end of the scale stuff, but not suitable for professional football. I'm just not keen that many (not neccessarily on this thread mind), seem at pains to find excuses for him, wanting to put it down to mental illness etc. I think he is a bit of a dirty t**t truth be told. You get people in football who behave beond the rules. I have played with and agaisnt loads of people who just have no respect for the rules. They weren't mentally ill, they were just t**ts.

    I dont have a particularly understanding nature of course! I am slightly uncomfortable that genuine mental health issues are sometimes being lost in the sea of trying to attribute everything bad that happens to some obscure mental health problem.

    My personal view is:

    a. he is mean and spiteful individual;

    b. he will always cheat and lash out because, as you say, he isn't interested in stopping cheating and lashing out

    c. there is some weird kink in his mind which makes biting a preferred method of lashing out;

    d. that particular kink could be addressed with professional help;

    e. fixing this kink would not make him a good person but at least he might stop biting people.

    f. that would be a good thing

    Hopefully. Personally I think he'll always get his teeth sunk in when the going gets tough. Some kind of go to response for him. I think its a "street fight" mentality he'll always rely on. Indeed I reckon it might be part of his drive which makes him so good. He is tenacious, but unfortunately the tenacity overboils.

    Totally agree with what NUFCBRONX said about biting, it's not a thing any sensible adult would do. I can handle a guys who loses it and throws a punch, or even a head butt.

    But a bite????? It's the sort of action you get from a toddler, or maybe a 5 -8 year old who uses it in petulance or temper, but soon grow up to realise that biting isn't acceptable

    So there we go, it is the action of a petulant child who throws a tantrum when he can't have his own way.

    Over you Mr. Suarez, point proved methinks.

    My missus said the same thing about the toddler analogy.
    It's just plain wrong on every level what he did.
