Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has been suspended for one match, fined £20,000 and warned as to his future conduct after admitting a Football Association charge of improper conduct.

The 24-year-old Uruguayan international will miss Friday's Premier League game against Newcastle United at Anfield as a result.

Suarez, recently given an eight-game ban for racially abusing Manchester United's Patrice Evra, was charged for an abusive hand gesture following the 1-0 defeat at Fulham on 5 December.

He raised the middle finger of his left hand as he walked off the pitch.

Liverpool have also been fined £20,000 for failing to control their players in the same match.

Reds midfielder Jay Spearing was sent off during the game, prompting several Liverpool players to remonstrate with referee Keith Friend.

The club admitted the charge of failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion but contested the financial penalty.

However, an independent regulatory commission ruled the £20,000 punishment was applicable.

This is an outrage IMO. Gary Neville, Beckham, Wayne Rooney, and Ashley Cole have all made obscence gesture's to the crowd in the past and have not been banned. I think Kenny has gone too far with the f.a and we are now being unfairly punished for thing's other player's are getting away with.

Here we can clearly see Fat boy and Ash Cole making a gesture at the crowd and nothing happened them.

I understand the ban, but why has it taken this long to impose? The FA generally do **** all, and have more than enough members/execs to cope with the occasional work they do have to deal with. Surely it could have been dealt with within a couple of days after the actual offence.

They're far too busy trying to find ways of not having to charge John Terry

EDIT: Plus a lot of the FA's staff were up north at Man Utd's xmas do

FA = Corrupt as f**k, making the rules up as they go along

I don't understand it. If at least 5 other player's have done the exact same thing and got away with it then I can't understand how they can ban one person and let 5 other player's away with the same offence.

In fairness Cole was probably trying to show he shot the kid twice!

By the way was Gerrard ever punished for this?

Exactly. Rooney got a 2 game ban for swearing at an audience containing women and children. Suarez got a 1 game ban for swearing at an audience containing women and children.

Disgrace isn't it.

Yes you are right; inconsistentcy as many people are already pointing to. Thank you for your additional example of how rubbish the FA are in coming to conclusions & punishments. I'm glad there are some united fans that aren't treating the incompetent behaviour of the FA as some kind of competition.

Because you weren't were you?.....

Excellent! way over that dimwits head though.

Will LFC be printing new t-shirts or did they already order shed loads of the white ones to keep for future misdemeanors?
