See he is tipped for a season long loan up the road, come on Brucie, splash the cash.

Want a Welbeck, Sturridge attack, perm, loan, just for their holls I dont care just get them here to help Gyan out.

Newcastle United will this summer look to make a move for Chelsea youngster Daniel Sturridge as the club’s board continue to look to plan for the future. Alan Pardew has been promised funds, albeit limited, to help improve the St James’ Park squad and the Magpies will test the water with a move for the England Under 21 international.

Having lost Kevin Nolan to West Ham the club source has stated that the club will not look to offer long term deals to players nearing, or already in, their 30s and this was one of the reasons they opted to allow their club captain to move to Upton Park.

Chairman Derek Llambias and owner Mike Ashley have seemingly angered a large section of the club’s support having thus far not invested much of the £35m banked from the sale of striker Andy Carroll to Liverpool and though the signings of Yohan Cabaye, Sylvain Marveaux and Demba Ba have shown intent, the fact that all three additions arrived on free transfers has irked many of the Toon Army faithful.

Newcastle United will look to lure youngster Daniel Sturridge with the promise of regular first team football, something the 21 year old former Man City man may crave after his successful stint on loan at Bolton last term, during which time he netted an impressive eight goals in 11 Premier League starts. The Birmingham born starlet is currently fourth choice starter at Stamford Bridge with the likes of Didier Drogba, Fernando Torres and Nicolas Anelka all ahead of him in the Blues pecking order.

Whilst Newcastle United are initially looking to bring Sturridge in on a season long loan deal they may also be open to purchasing the player outright if the West London club opts to cash in on the striker, although a lot could depend on when a new manager is named to replace the outgoing Carlo Ancelotti.

I think both teams have cash and ambition, therefore we're bound to have many targets that are the same.

It really stokes up the local rivalry - yip, yip

Yes Sturridge and Wellbeck with Gyan, Sess and Campbell when he's back would be my ideal attacking command force this season...can't see it happening though honestly.

Ellis must see though the money to be made from young English players, it is a strategy worth persuing.

Any pudit I've ever heard comment on Sturridge has said "he can be what he wants to be, it's up to him" which gives the impression the lad has an attitude problem.

personally, i think sturridge is too profligate in front of goal, and for the prices being touted, i think he'd be unrealistic, and there would be better out there. also, i don't want to see us go down the loan route again.

Man u Rooney Hernandez favored pairing with Owen and Berbatov, if Welbeck only has a bit part to play expect him here in the jan window,

Now we have Gyan, Ji Wong Don, Campbell [ injured] we will only get one more forward and that is likely to be Welbeck in the January window, However with Sturridge and possibly Berbatov available and the impending departure of Gordon, there are still a lot of twists and turns to come.

I would not say no but I would rather have Wickham and Welbeck.

I would love all 3 but I can't see it. In fact if we get any one on Wickham, Welbeck, Sturridge I will be happy.

I can see one from the above and Ngog which will mean we have 4 fit strikers with Gyan and Don

Despite the "excitement" I expressed in my previous post, think you've nailed it here. Give me at least one of Wickham, Welbeck or Sturridgeand that would be awesome. Then add Long Duck Dong and we're in business.
