If we are going to get him? Is he currently match fit? Or are we going to have to wait 3 months for him to get match fit

As far as I am aware he is match fit. Doubt we would have rushed into the deal if he wasnt.

As long as Sturridge scores a good number of goals, our results improve and we climb the table, this deal should be counted as successful.

there's more wrong now that having forwards with suarez... the midfield is terrible right now. we got walked all over by stoke, villa and even qpr in the second half.... the defense is leaky especially from set plays..

we need 3 good reliable performers up front and i hope sturridge adds to suazre to get us closer to that... borini, sterling and even downing need to go do a lot more to make up the third member.

Lucas and allen need to work it out quick and gerrard needs to be subbed finally.. when will someone have the bottle to tell him he can't play 90mins every game!

We should be resting him when the game is won or he may pick up a knock and be out for weeks, he was the obvious sub against QPR but stayed on the pitch.

Bit harsh to criticise Borini...he's only played 4 games in the PL for us and, despite missing some sitters, made some brilliant runs to create space or get into those positions to shoot. He'll come good with time. Suarez-Borini-Sturridge will work well as a forward 3 imo.

But yeah, after Sturridge, our priority needs to be a quality midfielder

Just baffled to why you're paying 12m for a player like him, when you could pay 7m for Demba Ba. With Rodgers saying he doesnt know where he is going to play him, sounds a bit odd to me, maybe he can add a bit of competition to Reina?...

The manager knows him and obviously rates him, as fans we'll have to wait and see if he can cut it.

    Cheers <ok>

So with tomorrow being a bank holiday, does that mean Sturridge can't sign 'til the second? Has anything even been confirmed yet, did that medical even happen? Haven't seen any quotes as such yet.

I really rate sturridge and think he is a good addition for us. But I hope he is fit and raring to go. It seems silly signing someone who is injured, a but like aqualani

I also rate borini and agree with earlier post that once he plays he makes some good runs and creates space for others. Only problem is you need to be in 18 yd box to score. Your not going to score if your heading towards the corner flag

Sturridge is a done deal. Ince still ongoing but will happen. Apparently, we've been looking closely at a couple of young French midfielders. We won't sell anyone unless we get a suitable deal.

I'd rather have Sturridge than Ba. He is younger and Ba has a knee problem which could potentially mean he could be out injured for months at a time. To date Newcastle have been lucky and it has not flared up, but knowing our luck if we signed him he would get injured within weeks and be out for months.

We couldn't pay 7mill for Ba. That clause is for clubs in the CL, which we are not. We'd have to pay way beyond 7mill for him.

Really wish we went for Walcott instead of Sturridge. I would take both though, however, now Walcott has great form I see him staying at arsenal.

    I'd love Walcott too.

Don't think he'll sign again with Arsenal tbh, they're not going anywhere and I think he'll be looking for a club at the top or who will be at the top.
Don't think he'll come to us either, we're many years away from competing.

Juventus rumoured to be interested in him and could yet see United make an approach, but they'd play him on the wing. We'll see if his excuse really was that he wanted to play in the middle.
