****in' gutted tbh. Since Suarez did one to Barca Sturridge has been a shadow of himself. I hope he comes back to us at his best, but if he doesn't come back at all, it won't surprise me really

He needs game time, 5 starts this season is not going to get Studge back to his best. Who knows if we will see him in a red shirt again?

You are right, but God what a mess! Only a few seasons ago Studge was banging them in like billy-o with Suarez! Then Suarez goes and suddenly. it's all ****in' messed up! <doh> I don't think Klopp rates him, yet he persists with those clowns at the back...

Agatha Christie would have a word here!

his legs are gone, his head is gone.

he could score but since his injuries he is unwilling to make the runs in behind and finish. he is afraid to.

Sturridge is mentally weak. Without Suarez to motivate him he can't perform, every injury breaks him. He can't be his best.

I suspect the reason he is no longer who he was is all in his head. I doubt his confidence will ever be as high again, and I doubt he'll ever be a star again.

It's not that he doesn't rate him, more that he's simply not a Klopp type player; he didn't work hard

He's never truly been a team player for us, always wanting the limelight and would sooner have a nothing no chance shot than make an assist for a player better placed.
That said he's scored some eye candy goals for us and for that I'm thankful and wish him luck.

Strikers are like that! I'd still rather see him come off the bench when we need 1 goal in the last 15 mins v Porto to go through than Ings or Solanke.

    You got me there organic.<grr>

But I'll stand by my comment because I've always had that opinion of him.

Off the bench is not the same as a full game(obviously), over the course of full games his greedy trait has cost us many points, but to each their own opinion, and I respect yours and organic's.:emoticon-0100-smile

There is another one from this season where, instead of finishing himself he squared it to Mane? or Firmino? to score. It was a game where we scored
4 or so but I can't find it atm. I do know what you mean though, I've screamed at him on occasions to release the ball when others have been better placed <ok>

Absolutely. I wouldn't start him in a game either but in those particular set of circumstances I've seen nothing in Ings or Solanke that would fill me with any confidence. Klopp praises Solanke quite often but he doesn't look to me to have a striker's instinct. I'd probably prefer Woodburn. Hopefully it won't be an issue.

Wish him all the best. He’s not suited to start for this team but he’s an excellent option off the bench.

I don’t agree with letting him go in January because now, Ings and Solanke are our back up strikers and I don’t care if they work hard, they’re just not good enough (Solanke could be good but not yet).

An odd move given you chose not to replace him, merely get his huge salary off your wage bill.

Clearly player and manager don't see eye to eye.

His salary is one thing but Klopp probably is happy.

IMO if sturridge can be on bench last night for them he's been taken out of our team for past while to get shut and that means we went and played swansea and westbrom without that option.... so he can **** right off <ok>

Besides the fact Ings is always injured, I don't really see either as being a step down from the Sturridge of the last few years. Solanke could be a first team striker one day, rather he gets experience on field than Studge, who will never be good enough again.

Worst case scenario, we raise the value of Solanke.

Thought the chance he had last night summed up the problem Studge now has in that he bulked up , presumably in a bid to avoid so many niggling injuries , but is now quite sluggish so will always get caught by defenders.
