Come on boys and girls, you need to take your red and white blinkers off! I love Adam but not many 20 year olds can hold down a Premiership midfield spot. Lallana was overkill in League One and I think he will be excellent in the Championship but he has some way to go before he can be at that level, and is 2 years older than Henderson (and always will be I suppose!). With every England tournament the same comments about overpaid overrated footballers comes out, this guy and Jack Wilshire are surely the future in midfield.

how can henderson be worth £25mill and jack cork be worth circa £750,000???????????????????? doesnt make sense to me. henderson is so overrated.

this is probably the heart of the real problem, half the u21 and nearly all of the u20 squad that willbe playing in Colombia soon are sitting in the reserves of thier clubs and playing maybe 2 games a month. They play like a team on a pre season tour. Maybe it is better to pick players from the lower divs that play week in week out. This may aso encourage younger players to move to smaller clubs rather than the glamerous ones.

SH, can't take the blinkers off, they are well & truly stuck!
But on a serious note, wouldn't it be a great experiment to see a non (over-rated-over-paid-over-exposed) Prem team, & maybe see some lions from the Championship/League 1, players who would give everything for the opportunity. To see the passion again. I'll put these thoughts on ice while mr capello collects the last of of his pension shall I.

Flair players are prone to iconsistency as youngsters and that probably does for them when they get replaced at the drop of a hat in the Premier League. The football league is a good stomping ground for young players because there is not so much pressure that you get the shove after 1 or 2 dodgy games, but enough for them to realise that actions have consequences. The tempo that comes with competitive football also doesn't exist in reserve football.

I think the FA should set an example by only picking U20s and U21s that play first team football, whether its on loan or for their own clubs. It's not fair for big clubs to keep young players away from the real game when they have proven themselves ready for a break.

Yeah it would, but equally Capello has given caps to players like Kevin Davies, Matt Jarvis and Jay Bothroyd, there's nothing wrong with that but I don't think you would expect them to get anywhere near Euro 2012, or have much of an impact in 10 minutes of a friendly. I am not a massive England supporter but I just enjoy watching International football, taking the Swiss team from a couple of weeks ago they had a range of squad players from the Italian, English and Swiss leagues and took a deserved draw home. Say what you like about Fabio but after McLaren I think it would have been unthinkable for another English Premiership manager to be appointed, the media would have destroyed him, I guess that's just what the press do best...
