England Twenty20 captain Stuart Broad is winning his fitness battle to lead the side for this first time. Broad is yet to skipper the team and was a doubt for Saturday's match against Sri Lanka in Bristol after picking up a bruised heel on the final day of the third Test at the Rose Bowl. Vice-captain Eoin Morgan was ready for a very early promotion, but Broad now looks set to take his place after emerging unscathed from a fielding session today. Broad was not able to test the heel during his bowling action though. He only managed one ball in the nets before rain forced England to scrap their training for the day. ECB officials said Broad had only been due to undertake light bowling practice today in any case. He will step up his bowling training tomorrow with a view to proving he is fully fit to lead the team on Saturday.
