<laugh> <applause>

And the fact MP's are allowed to shows how one sided and bent the system is.
The ironic thing is that during a period when the Thatcher Govt was urging pay restraint MP's wanted a big pay rise and to get round it the expenses system was amended to make it easier to claim and was clearly intended to be used to top up their wages which ended up in the farce of the switching the main home between london and their constituency so the taxpayer could do up both for them and moat cleaning etc .

There was a poll I saw the other day and a good majority of over 65's were against, all the younger generation were for.

I do remember the strikes of the 70's but not so much for the bins, I think that was more a problem in London where it is densely populated but I do remember the power cuts. We were poor at the time, so finding 50p (or however much it was) for the meter was probably just as hard as having it switched off in the evenings due to industrial action.

I think like with all strikes including the ones under Thatcher it was just the aggressiveness of it, from both sides, the strikers and the police, while those in the middle just had to endure it.

I just cannot bring myself to vote for a party that wins debates on strikes, I think Starmer is sitting on the fence with it, unsure of which way to turn, he will know or have been advised how much damage it can do if you say the wrong things, you will either piss off one side or the other.

I listened to one of your videos or twitter things the other day, with the main guy who's been getting tons of praise, the union guy? Anyway when I listed to it, me personally, I felt he was having a pop at Labour as much as he was the Tories.

It was interesting the Lib Dem victory, and that's probably what I would do, either not vote or go the middle ground, that don't help the Tories, but it don't really help Labour either, well they could have a coalition but I'd give that all of two years tops. As in Thatchers time, she would lose a lot of local elections but always come through at the General Election and she really was hated, hated so much I honestly swear people would kill her. Boris is no where near that level of hate, it's all hot air at him.

It's important to remember, that Labour only got back in, because Blair moved them to centre left. However, the younger generation will probably decide, if they can get themselves out of bed this time.
I was on my break and not wasting my free time reading that, will read it when I get back to work.

Heres a question....

what's the incentive for someone who isn't effected by the cost of living crisis to help people who are effected by the cost of living crisis?

Answer = None

The expsenses thing really fuking ****s me off if I'm honest. It's like burner credit card you rinse for as long as you can and for as much as you can before it's cancelled.

And every time I see how much an MP has claimed its always been more than the 80k salary. Every single one I've seen.
they do need an expenses system but as my above post it was skewed to help them top up their wages and then it just became a game by some to see how much they could claim .

They need ****ing lynching is what they need mate.

And we need a complete rethink on how much they can claim and for what because its a fuking scam like a stolen credit card is.

oh definitely but there will always need to be an expenses system as for most MP's they will need somewhere in London to live and expenses for their office staff etc .

Bollocks they do, buy a big ****ing building and make a fuking dorm out of it for them to use when down here. It's a place to sleep yeah?

Same with the offices, buy a big building and use that instead of them all individually having a lush pad & office's down in London at our expense.

**** me like if half the peeps I grew up with knew about expenses they'd be politicians not criminal overlords<laugh>

I think the only thing I've been concerned with in recent times is the fuel prices going through the roof, by that I mean electricity and gas, i don't particularly enjoy driving anymore, so not too fussed over petrol prices, although that will affect food prices. But with petrol I was saying way back a hike would becoming anyway, the reason there has not been much urgency to do something about it, is because it's convenient as we head towards the year 2030 shall we say. A bit like how we help out in a war to deflect from partygate.

But let's be honest here, for everyone moaning on here how many are on the breadline, we all have holidays, we all buy nice clothes, some can afford nice cars, some love a good old drink, others love a good ole bit of wacky backy, some love three grand bikes haha. I know we may be concerned for others and rightly so, but other than that on here, we reep what we sow. I don't drink, well not compared to others, I don't smoke anymore, I don't gamble, gave it all up after my youth, because I come to the conclusion if you want nice things, stop pissing it up the wall.
