With the demoralising news of Remy likely off to scumsville, this will leave us with OBZ, Charlie and Vargas.
With OBZ only really with us for his heroics at Wembley and unlikely to ever be fit enough for more than 45 minutes. Charlie proved to be a hero last season, his goals kept us in the running, but his injury was the reason we only made the play-offs and so early in to the new season he's injured already. Add in the fact he's untested in the premiership, will he make it? And finally Vargas, who looked great in the world cup, but again untested in the Premiership and his domestic record isn't great but his international record is very good, but again will he adjust and produce for us?
So we are clearly short on stirkers, Remy going in the 11th hour was our nightmare scenario and appears to be becoming a reality. I think this is why Harry was desperate to try and shift him early on so we knew where we stood, as much as I'm sure he'd have liked to have had him stay. It clearly meant while we didn't know what was happening, we couldn't afford to start buying lots of strikers.
But how many do we need to try and bring in before Tuesday? Who are we realistically going to be able to buy who will bring us goals? We've been backed in to strong favourites to sign Hooper, but I just can't see he'll get enough goals. He certainly didn't get many for Norwich. With most of our early striking targets, the ice-man and Deeney having since signed new contracts I'm guessing they're now off the list. Can anyone think of a quality striker who can come in and do a job?
PS
The first person to say Defoe or Crouch gets a slap
