They are set to give the idiot an extension. Like I said previously the owner clearly has far more money than sense of which 'Arry will spend plenty.
if the Rhodes deal is dead then I can see SB going for Hooper at Norwich were he's been frozen out due to him wanting away and it would be in line with buying British.
My mind went straight to him as soon as our 3rd bid for Rhodes was rejected...Norwich are bound to have our pants down n all.
If we can't get Rhodes in it'll be a foreign based signing coming, by targeting Rhodes we know that Bruce is looking for an out and out goalscorer.
Think SB is a little bit reluctant to go foreign after his experience at Sunderland with Giyani(not sure if that's the right way to spell it)spent big bucks on him and he wanted away a few months late when a better offer came in from the middle east, and of course on a smaller scale with Proschwitz at city.
I really hope you aren't referring to Asamoah Gyan; he managed 10 goals in his one season there and has gone on to score 82 goals in 66 appearances for Al Ain. Even if that league is a big bag of ****, that's pretty impressive. Sunderland paid £13m for him, but Al Ain paid £6m for the loan deal and then £8m for a permanent transfer. If he wasn't on over 100k a week, we'd have put a substantial bid in for him by now.
To be fair Gyan was excellent for one season before he we to UAE (I think) and no doubt earned an absolute fortune. He also lost Bendtner and Welbeck at the same time which is why i think he was most annoyed.
we want a permanent signign not some hopeful loans in. Loans are there for an emergency at this point
Bruce will have someone lined up if Rhodes is not available. They'll be foreign players that he's scouted either with us or at Sunderland that he's been keeping an eye on.. I just hope Blackburn dont string us along all week and then finally tell us he's definitely not for sale, leaving us just a few days to get a bid accepted elsewhere. We need to move on already and bring in a foreign striker, if you score lots of goals in the top leagues around europe, you've got a great chance of doing it in the prem.. obviously some players fail, but thats the chance we'll have to take.
There's absolutely no rumors of it, but how would you mates feel about bringing aboard Jozy Altidore? Obviously, I'm a bit of a newbie to this whole football thing, but he's been a key cog for the USMNT. And I'll admit that selfishly, as an American fan attempting to follow the PL from long distance, it would be fun to watch one of "my guys" on a regular basis. Seems to me like Altidore would fill a big hole at striker. Thoughts? If I'm an idiot, feel free to say it.
If you've just seen him for the US national team, I can understand. However, check out his goalscoring record in the Premier League. 1 goal in 30 odd appearances for us, the exact same record for Sunderland.
