We have to be realistic about these things. If we couldn't afford Rhodes in the premiership then we can't afford him now. And even if Blackburn were willing to sell, there would be other premier league clubs who could match his wage demands.

We need to be looking at someone like Glen Murray who is likely to be surplus to requirements at crystal palace but is still capable of scoring a hatful of goals in the championship

As great as Glenn Murray would be - Pardew seems to like him, and played him a lot last year.

I'd look at:

Hugo Rodallega (on a free transfer, 10 goals and 7 assists last year)
Dwight Gayle (Talk he could be allowed to leave Palace)
&
Then an upcoming Championship striker, one of:
Igor Vetokele
Andre Gray
Nouha Dicko
Harry Bunn

I'd definitely take Gayle if he was available- he seems really quick and a decent conversion rate.
