Remember, there are still loanees that we may get. I know that is not ideal but we have to get what we can given the constraints we have.
The worst thing to happen to a club like Watford is the 5 subs rule coming back - such a rediculous decision that has harmed the future development of youngsters! managers have to be much more careful who they have on the bench now. With a keeper taking up one position, that leaves 4. The obvious choices are 1 defender, 1 midfielder and 1 striker (so eg, Mirfin, Jenkins, Deeney) so who do you pick as the last... you'd have to say a full back or another midfielder - so Hodson or Bauben. We have don't have that room to manoever now! as for a striker - we may have to wait until the loan window reopens - even if it is a loan deal with a view to signing permanently in January. Lots of clubs are still working out their 25-man squads, and we may have to strike a deal with someone surplus to requirements!
Have done some early reading to see if there might be a clue as to who we want, and even taking in the excellent rumours site, I have found out that it is not known.
I am glad we have done most of our business already... and if we do sign someone today, I hope that it's someone that we have been trying to sign for a while rather than a 'panic' buy.
30 Aug 2011 15:29:09 Interesting mixture of possibles from that well known Rumour Site: Watford boss Sean Dyche is close to sealing four deals and hopefully will be announced tomorrow morning in a press conference. West Brom youngster Sam Mantom is holding talks over a loan deal and that could be completed later tonight. Gary Madine has been the subject of a undisclosed bid from Watford but it is rumoured Sheffield Wednesday boss Gary Megson wants £650,000 for the ex Carlisle and Coventry forward. Ex Northern Ireland under 21 forward Adam McGurk is in talks over a three year deal from Tranmere after a undisclosed fee was accepted on Saturday afternoon. Finally, Jermaine Grandison is in talks with Dyche regarding a one year deal from Shrewsbury.
