Read this on OTIB and liked the question...

If you could only bring in 1 new player before Saturday's game. Would you choose a defender or a stricker.

Note..we have..

Defenders - Carey, Fontaine, Nyatanga, Wilson, Stewart, Cunningham all can play CB..
Strikers - Stead, Pitman, Taylor..

No question for me...A striker....

.....and guess what,we've just signed a young central defender from Celtic....

Looking at those options a defender for me. Our CB options are poor despite the numbers, our strikers can score goals to nick 1-0 wins but with the current defence no striker will score enough goals to cover the amount we have been shipping in, not even RVP!!!

I am a keen believer that the best form of defence is to attack as if we have the ball down their end then they dont have the ball at our end. Though some managers like the "special one" Jose, feels that you should build a team from the back and Chelsea were well known for winning every game 1-0 (boring boring Chelsea) but they won games.

To me I think, if fit, Jamie Wilson is our best centre defender and could be a future club captain who has been linked with many Premier League clubs.

I would go with a striker out of the two options but the question is who?! I think our best bet is to loan in a young hungry striker. Someone like Adam Morgan at Liverpool would be a good option as he looked impressive in their pre season and his youth record at the club is as good as Fowler or Owen who both turned out to be top strikers. the young striker needs a chance and we could be the right club to give him or someone else in a similar position that chance. Would Caulker had gone on loan to Swansea and got in to the GB and England squad if it wasnt for his chance we gave him which he took and delievered.

Yes, I think he probably would have, and I think maynard would have made the Prem without us.
Talent and ability is all that counts at the end of the day.

Do you not suspect that DMc does not share City supporters opinion that if selected and encouraged James Wilson will be a very good player and possibly future club captain.
If he starts in the team at Forest I'll eat my own hat or something equally as daft.

Thanks Wizered. I am computer literate but it's 35°C in the shade today making it difficult to reason anything out against the noise of the air conditioning.

Oh and back to the question. We need both big centre back if he won't play Wilson and also two more strikers with pace and a willingness to work hard!

We desperately, desperately need a decent center half alongside Fontaine so no question it would be a defender.

Mark Wilson might play there for us on Saturday...

Not sure about James Wilson, jury definately still out.
