Two things strike me, one I suspect that Pearson has been well aware of the situation reference big signings from day 1 and even more importantly as we know to our cost 5 mil doesn't buy you much of a striker these days and we bought 2 for 5mil each.

As for the last bit you claimed that your man love was a genius.

But the facts are these Matty Taylor was injured pre season and only made 4 starts and 14 as sub all season because of ongoing injury problems, Milan Duric who was also injured pre season and made a grand total of 4 starts and 12 subs for the same reason, the only other strikers on the books at that time were, Gustav Engvall (remember that inspired signing?) who never made a league start all season just 2 sub appearnces and Freddie Hinds an 18 year old with 1 sub appearance. The main strike force was Diedhiou and Reid. We then brought in Woodrow who made a total 3 league appearances and 11 as sub and Leko who made 5 starts and 6 sub appearances late August and then in January we surpassed ourselves and signed Diony who made 1 start and 6 as sub.

Later that season Diedhiou was also injured to join Tayor and Duric and only managed 28 starts all season but had an impressive strike rate of 13 goals, Reid made 46 appearances that season.

You really should check facts before over egging peoples CV's, we had what I believe the term is 'a striker crisis' a crisis that was not improved by Engvall, Hinds, Woodrow, Leko and certainly not Diony.

Reid's conversion came out of necessity and not genius, but hey it certainly worked out well for us, because he was superb and netted us a good fee and although unable to reach those scoring highs again, showed what a great player he still is in our recent game against Fulham and I for one could not understand why some fans booed him during the game.

It can be proved mathematically as well:-
Reid played 46.
Diedhiou played 28.
And all the other quality strikers played 17 between them.

It's nothing to do with what I read, it's what was actually factual and the facts are yes he did convert Reid to a striker and it turned out to be one of his better decisions but totally out of necessity not out of any genius decision. Who else was he going to play out of who we had left? the invisible Swede or an 18 year old?

The only way we’re going to get a striker in the near future is if we sell a youngster to a PL club, HNM as an example

My questions are simple, what other options did he have available to him at the start of the season?, what options did he have when his first 2 loans failed?, what options did he have when Diedhiou got injured?, what options did he have when Duric and Taylor were never ever fully fit and both required surgery at the end of the season? and what option did have after Diony failed?

I agree, there is usually a reason that clubs are prepared to loan out strikers and we have had far more than our fair share of duds in that department.

I meant more that we’d then have cash to spend on a striker as PL is really only place money is available to buy players, alternatively I suppose a top of championship team with parachute payment money left is another option, but either way unless we sell someone for decent money we won’t have the kind of money needed to bring in a decent striker, even then wages may be an issue.
