Two things strike me, one I suspect that Pearson has been well aware of the situation reference big signings from day 1 and even more importantly as we know to our cost 5 mil doesn't buy you much of a striker these days and we bought 2 for 5mil each.

As for the last bit you claimed that your man love was a genius.

But the facts are these Matty Taylor was injured pre season and only made 4 starts and 14 as sub all season because of ongoing injury problems, Milan Duric who was also injured pre season and made a grand total of 4 starts and 12 subs for the same reason, the only other strikers on the books at that time were, Gustav Engvall (remember that inspired signing?) who never made a league start all season just 2 sub appearnces and Freddie Hinds an 18 year old with 1 sub appearance. The main strike force was Diedhiou and Reid. We then brought in Woodrow who made a total 3 league appearances and 11 as sub and Leko who made 5 starts and 6 sub appearances late August and then in January we surpassed ourselves and signed Diony who made 1 start and 6 as sub.

Later that season Diedhiou was also injured to join Tayor and Duric and only managed 28 starts all season but had an impressive strike rate of 13 goals, Reid made 46 appearances that season.

You really should check facts before over egging peoples CV's, we had what I believe the term is 'a striker crisis' a crisis that was not improved by Engvall, Hinds, Woodrow, Leko and certainly not Diony.

Reid's conversion came out of necessity and not genius, but hey it certainly worked out well for us, because he was superb and netted us a good fee and although unable to reach those scoring highs again, showed what a great player he still is in our recent game against Fulham and I for one could not understand why some fans booed him during the game.

It can be proved mathematically as well:-
    Reid played 46.
    Diedhiou played 28.
And all the other quality strikers played 17 between them.

Another lot of unnecessary blurb :emoticon-0113-sleep that's not what was quoted by LJ at the time, so as to facts, I can do no more than copy and paste his exact words printed out from Bristol live. Look it up, put your mind at rest........or maybe it's best we all go with your version of events..
I never said he was genius but experimenting with what he had already which worked was genius.
Still can't help yourself to make a gibe can you <doh>

NB. To save you a task to come up with some more blurb and having to do a google search.

Yours is the blurb, of course LJ would want to take the credit and have you then elevate him to a genius status. But the facts are plain, it was out of necessity and it worked perfectly.

But the facts are as I put in my post, 2 of our strikers were injured in pre season and were left with Diedhiou who had signed in the summer and Engvall whom never got selected even though we paid over 2mil for him and an 18 year old as striking options, that is why we brought in 2 on loan, not 1 as cover.

But hey if you believe that it was LJ's plan all along and that plan was assisted by Taylor and Duric getting injured, then fine, you go on believing that.

Ahh ok, because you don't like what you read, what he's actually said, it's blurb and yours is fact......ok lets go with that <doh>
NB...Again I did not call him or elevate him as genius.......just the actions he took......it's really difficult for you to understand isn't it?
And I thought the hate was deep with RP.....:emoticon-0136-giggl

It's nothing to do with what I read, it's what was actually factual and the facts are yes he did convert Reid to a striker and it turned out to be one of his better decisions but totally out of necessity not out of any genius decision. Who else was he going to play out of who we had left? the invisible Swede or an 18 year old?

So I'm thinking hold on a minute, let's have an experiment. I spoke to Bobby Reid at the end of last season and told him of my intentions.
"I love him, I'm desperate for him to play, but as a midfielder sometimes the competition is too strong and he doesn't have quite the attributes in a defensive sense that I'm after, or the physical prowess.

"But as a striker he's got good movement, his technique's good, he can handle the ball [with his] back to goal, he never stops running - he's like a Duracell battery up there - at shutting down and pressing and he's just a pest to play against. But we see him every day and we see he can finish as well. And Bobby Reid has shown up to be just the type of player that could flourish in a position further forward.

He had it in his plans already and I can't find anyone saying or dismissing what he quoted .........................................................apart from you!!

I agree, there is usually a reason that clubs are prepared to loan out strikers and we have had far more than our fair share of duds in that department.

What's the saying? "hindsight is a wonderful thing", that interview from what I can make out was April 2018, a month before the end of the season.

My questions are simple, what other options did he have available to him at the start of the season?, what options did he have when his first 2 loans failed?, what options did he have when Diedhiou got injured?, what options did he have when Duric and Taylor were never ever fully fit and both required surgery at the end of the season? and what option did have after Diony failed?

In the end the switch from midfield to striker was born out necessity, not any genius decision, there were no other options available to him because through injuries, poor striker signings already on the books and even poorer striker loan signings, it was plainly out of necessity, but it worked out great in the end.

And if you cannot find anybody to share that view, I don't care in the same way that you never cared about the view of 10 of my friends after the Fulham game.

FFS.........The options were.....not to experiment and/or play Reid up front or try it...... but he did...it worked, get over it...that's how football or life, for that matter works......opportunity arises, either you take it and it works or it/you don't.....end of..............that goes for every player <doh> bloody hell, you are hard work! Blurb for the sake of blurbbing..:emoticon-0113-sleep

I would say that when it comes to blurb as you put it, you are at least my equal, but your use of emoji's puts you in the lead.

I meant more that we’d then have cash to spend on a striker as PL is really only place money is available to buy players, alternatively I suppose a top of championship team with parachute payment money left is another option, but either way unless we sell someone for decent money we won’t have the kind of money needed to bring in a decent striker, even then wages may be an issue.
