Okay, going to be on the TV every week for the next 3 months, like it or not.

I admit to enjoying watching very attractive young ladies doing their stuff on the dance floor. Not so keen on the blokes.

A very promising first week so far.

However, Matt Goss, clearly wearing someone else's suit. 2 sizes bigger than him.

Switched off this a couple of seasons ago. Far too cheesy! Don’t watch any of these shows or any of the reality stuff.

I watch next to no reality stuff. Can't stand talentless wannabees who expect an exceptional amount of money for posing in their tatoos, steroid boosted physiques, and brief costumes - and that's just the women. Shagging on camera optional.

However on Strictly they are generally already in the public eye, have to perform an activity many have not done to any level before, get criticised for putting a foot out of line and often are in no physical shape to do it at the outset. Yes they are paid well but can easily get shown up as no hopes.

As an aside, many of the women are gorgeous. Have I not mentioned that before.

By the way I am no fan of dancing. On a night out you will find me in a dark corner nursing my drink.

So far tonight Will Mellor was excellent, Ellie Taylor surprisingly good as was the very rotund camera guy from Animal Park. Last one up Fleur East will also do well.

Come on guys, a nice change from footie.

I am a devotee of Strictly and have been for 14 seasons now. Everything about it is just joyous and the band who play live, are remarkable.
I thought tonight was a good first week and it was great to have a live audience again. Yep, Hanza was surprisingly good and there were some other great first dances.
Glad someone else is interested.

It's funny how we think about things. I've never thought of Strictly as a reality show but I guess it is. But I can't put it in with the other reality crap most of which I try to avoid.
For me, Strictly is an entertainment show that cheers people up. And the pro dancers are fantastic. World champions in most cases. My favourite Luba Mushtuk, rarely gets a celebrity but is usually prominent in the pro dances as well as helping to choreograph them.

Well done Sparkey. I think saying it's not for you is far better than just calling it garbage. It brings joy to millions and in a world filled with hatred and hurt, it's a bit of light relief for a few short hours per week.
Also, it's not as if there aren't any other TV channels available.

At the risk of being contoversial (not like me ) it's just like beauty, garbage is in the eye of the beholder.

Personally apart from sport, I prefer to watch the drama offerings, documentaries and other factual programmes - and I'm not a nerd either.

Of the lighter stuff, I watch very little. It may be a bit crass, but for me there's more personal drama in The Voice where "ordinary" people aspiring to get on in the music business either have the elation of being selected or personal despair of rejection. Tom Jones may be showing his age now, but he's still got one hell of a voice too.

As it turns out, Strictly brings in far more than the cost of making it and therefore helps fund other, less popular programs.

Ah. There's the few words missing from your first statement "that's how I see it" and of course you are correctly at liberty to have that view. Strictly isn't brilliant because I love it and equally not garbage because you "hate it with a passion".

Points accepted Nin and Sparks but at least those taking part are learning, developing and expressing a new skill. Unlike the majority of other reality programmes.

Points also accepted on The Voice but if the contestants are any good then why haven't they been discovered previously? Same point applies to Talentless Britain.

I'm glad you said "most" Bluey. As always with skimpy costumes, it can't disguise the boat race.

I know it's all a matter of opinion (ninion ), but for those I've seen who look like Helen of Troy whose face launched a thousand ships, others have been like Edna of Splott, whose face launched a thousand skips.
