I know this doesn't quite fall under the thread title, but when I was a first year at Parmiter's I was in my year 'B' team for football. Unfortunately, when it came to playing Leggatts they didn't have a 'B' team but as most of the Leggatts team were at Orchard with me I decided to go and watch - taking my kit with me. As it ended up, two of our team didn't turn up, so I became the sub. We won 8-0 and our captain and right-winger both scored hat-tricks and I went on for the right-winger with the score 7-0. As I'm left-footed, I would've preferred somewhere else but my direct opponent was one of my former classmates at Orchard. Our captain almost got his 4th, but his shot was tipped onto the bar. You can probably guess who was following up - the look on the faces of most of the Leggatts team was priceless, especially as I never scored for Orchard!
Jsy I forgot - the funniest thing about tht Arsenal game was what happened the week after.. We played them in the league at the vic and Tony bought down Martin Hayes in the penalty area - saving the resulting spot kick. We went on to win 2-0. They hated us back in those days - we always semd to win
Lets hope we keep everyone on the pitch on Saturday, as we are going to have so many suspensions, even our huge squad will look depleated!
WITH RESPECT!!!!! It wasn't the St John Ambulance Brigade (get it right, please) who dropped him. For whatever reason, probably insurance, the clubs at that time had to provide their own stretcher bearers to remove players from the field. Nowadays they are professional paramedics on standby to deal with injured players. The St. John Ambulance Brigade only provide assistance to the general public, even though there are fully trained nurses or doctors (usually in the senior ranks) they are limited by the society we live in today - where there's blame and all that, hence the clubs now having their own stretcher boys. The club dropped Issa, not the St John Ambulance Brigade. That said Issa was probably thrown and made to look like an accident, he really wasn't all that - who was in that side?
