One of the few words of Welsh I know is the word for "rape".

10 inches in old money. It would have to be some storm to wash that away. I'm guessing for a standard size base you are probably looking at a couple of ton of concrete at 250mm
We've got winds of 55mph and lashing rain predicted tonight. Trailing edge of the storm is just hitting now, but yeah it would have to go some to wash it away. I'm more concerned about it ruining the level to be honest. But we've built a shelter and nailed it down to the frame around the edge. Hopefully it will hold !
Concrete cures rather than dries. It's a chemical reaction. Unless you've poured it in the last hour, you will be surprised on how quickly rain etc has no effect on it.
Remember laying a base many years ago and we had one of those summer storms just as we were finishing the pour. The levels were still spot on after the rain. The surface finish did resemble the outer cover of a golf ball!

We poured it around 3pm so it should be okay. We're going to use some self levelling compound on the floor when we've built the shed, so it's not too much of an issue. Just as long as it holds out for the night without getting to fierce down here.
That's stronger than Florence was by the time it got to me.
Hope you all fare OK with minimal damage.

Yeah it's a gypsy greeting, mush.
Not heard this word for years, my understanding of mush...dependent on how it is said it can either be aggressive to a stranger or a term of friendship to a mate, origin from Romany Gypsy. I've also seen it written as moosh. But really it was just traditional slang term.
As for it being an insult, i never ever understood it as such, although the word may have evolved.
Although i have never taken offence to being called a pikey, it by many would have certainly been seen as a greater term of offence than the word mush, not even sure if the latter slang is even used anymore.
