It doesn't damage the club. The Celtic support are warmly welcomed wherever they go. The "damage" is done by the press. We know who their paynasters are. To preempt anyone citing UEFA's fine, please examine exactly what that was for, and examine Peter Lawwell's response to it. Posters can reject anyone elses vision of what Celtic is and who it is for. I am more open minded than that.
This kind of rationalisation of ******ed behaviour at the football is known as "The Circle of Mong" Why is singing about the IRA at football matches necessary? Answer that logically and rationally without the need to bring politics into it. You can't and I know you won't.
I never said it was necessary, i have said it is acceptable. I have justified that position on loads of occasions. If you chose not to pay any heed to that then there is not a lot I can do about it. What I haven't done is dismiss your opinion on the subject out of hand and referred to everyone who adopts the contrary opinion as a moron. Like it or not, Irish politics and Celtic are inextricably linked. People who ask "what has Irish politics got to do with Celtic" are being disingenuous. It is there. It is a "thing" and there is room for everyone.
Reb, so FOOTBALL fans singing about the IRA is cool and should not be stopped? It doesn't harm the club in any way?
I don't believe the problem rests with those singing songs. I don't believe that damages the club. When you say cool, do you mean like Arthur Fonzarelli "cool" or cool as in acceptable?
Reb, should people not take resposibility for their own actions? You are in a tiny minority that believes being linked to the IRA- through the songs at games- is not damaging to our club. I am done with this p!sh!
I don't get what you are driving at when you ask if people should take respinsibility for their actions. Of course they should. I don't believe I am in a tiny minority. I believe I am on this forum, but in general, I don't believe so.
The Circle of Mong. It hurts us all. Cut out the politics in a football stadium you look like a self serving selfish prick or an easily led mong. You've been Baw Clawed. This is a public service
Reb, we are just gonna keep covering the same points. Different st(r)okes and aw that sh!t ... Have a good one
I don't believe it does. If you wish to cut out politics from football why do you only seek to concentrate on mine? Poppies, John Reid, "Lord" of Parkhead.... Not a word about that. Just the one thing that resonates within our support that you don't like.
Much like the classic Lewis Carroll quote Why is Raven like a writing desk? What the ****ity **** have the IRA got to do with a football team from a different country? Riddle me that Rebel
I understand perfectly, I refuse to accept it. Your attitude is both narrow-minded and outdated. Keep your pishy Irish politics in Ireland please or at least out of Celtic Park. It's both arrogant and selfish
Some celtic fans have certain political beliefs that they chose to air whilst at games. I'm unconvinced that this means that Irish politics and Celtic (the club) are inextricably linked, or even that support for Celtic and Irish politics are inextricably linked.
The press damage Celtic, by reporting what is happening at Celtic. Throwing bananas at Mark Walters didn't damage Celtic, but the press reporting it did, and they know who their paynasters are.
Well done Edge, at least we know some Rangers fans are living in the past with Rebel. He won't be lonely at least...
