Was watching it on the telly, and Simpson laughed to himself when he asked for the towel. Was hilarious, obviously him and Raylor had decided to pretty much take the piss out of Delap. However, I did notice that actually, Raylor has a nice throw on him..<whistle>

I remember we scored against Stoke about 3 years ago from a long Raylor throw in. When Andy scored that mint header.

I must admit me and my mates were pissing ourselves at how little simpson was trying to disguise his amusement RE the towel. which will have only pissed off stoke further. it obviously had the desired effect!

Surely the bulk of the Stoke squad are championship? Stoke became a premier league club with no nonsense hoofball. Pulis' "skill" has been taking suspect crocks and aged players on a final big paycheck and clogging points on the board to remain in the league. Doesn't matter their position as long as they can say "we are a premier league outfit". They've replaced outgoing players with the same standards. Whereas other clubs use a system to get to a point, introduce better players and nurture a better system, Stoke have stalled. Perhaps Pulis doesn't have the gab or tactical nous to develop the squad and introduce quality footballers.

Did anyone else see how simpson and raylor were dropping the towel instead of handing it back. Also towards then end when Simpson asked for the towel and then dropped it straight away.

I think Pulis' tactics are the main problem. Out of their starting XI last night, they had a good set of players, barring Delap and Wilson who had a bit of a stinker. The likes of Shawcross, Begovic, Etherington and Walters could easily find themsevles another Premiership club if they needed to.

Love how 2 of our goals came from Raylor long throws <laugh>

Wilkinson was the worst for me when it came to stealing yards on throws.

I disagree we rely on Delap so much. We've scored about 4 from them in the past 2 and a bit seasons. We rely on Etherington and the increasingly frustrating and ****e Pennant. Delap has in general been pretty good this season, at home anyway, as while he can't pass to save his life, he is, at his best (which was the whole of our first season, most of last season and a bit of this season) a fine tackler, quick in the mind, fantastic engine, guards the centre halves well and can chip in with the odd goal. However when our midfield plays ****, the rest of the team tend to play **** to be honest. When Whelan has a bad game in midfield, we never play good football or play well, when Whelan plays well our football is much better and we, very often, get good results.

The annoying thing is, when Pulis allows it, we can play attractive football. The 4 best examples are this are Chelsea at home in April, Bolton at Wembley in April, Arsenal at home in May and United at home in September. The latter game, we played United off the park playing some immense football. Even an Arsenal fan with an intense hatred for Stoke, came on the Stoke board after that game and congratulated us on some fine football that evening. Which shows what we CAN do, which is why Pulis is so frustrating!!

To be fair to Wigan, its only through Martinez that they manage to stay up.

I agree with that, I read a statistic, forgotten exactly what it was but it certainly suggested that the danger from Delap's long throws is hugely overestimated.

Begovic and Sorenson are both quality premierleague goalkeepers, Etherington, Shawcross and Pennant are all average to lower premier league players the others aren't that good !

Pennant and Eterington are average to lower prem players?. Wow you Newcastle fans have changed since last year!!!!. Not liking yor attitudes and making yourselves look a bit silly. As for Shawcross and Huth they would walk into any prem team outside of the top 4 or 5 clubs.

Imo they have a very good team, the fact that they are a complete long ball team is sometimes overtalked, yes they play the long ball but we did all the time last season. They use the Delap throw in, it annoys me but would you if you had him in your team? Pennant, Etherington, Crouch, Jones, Begovic, Sorenson, Shawcross & Upson are all good Premiership players for me, not world beaters, but good solid players.
