He did well in Belgium iirc We know all about those players.

Think he also got a bad injury shortly after joining Villa so maybe not the same player since

This has to be bollocks. Not because of the penalty but he also claims that he was told it shouldn’t have been a freekick. The guy almost had his pants off!

I think they referred to it as “a soft free kick” but it’s not difficult to see that Stuart was being pulled back by his shorts.

Refer those banging on excessively about a decision that isn't going to be changed to the records where the result doesn't mention contentious free kicks or penalties.

If the PGMOL is undermining its referees when they get decisions CORRECT like this, they are not a fit for purpose body.

I am guessing this is just all made up.

Yeah I'm guessing it's made up. Or at least greatly exaggerated. His quote says "basically confirmed". It that is what the PGMOL confirmed there would have no reason for Neil to say basically. Either they said it or they didn't.

I highly doubt the PGMOL would get in contact to say that something was "soft" and "arguably shouldn't have been given". If they contacted clubs for every decision like that, they would never have time to do anything else. Maybe it was soft. Maybe you could argue against it. But it wasn't an outright howler that warranted an apology.
