Stoke to install electronic turnstiles

Stoke City are about to smash their way into the 21st century by installing electronic turnstiles throughout the stadium.

Next season, the Britannia Stadium faithful will be given a season card instead of the normal Season ticket book, and will have to enter the stadium by scanning their ticket at the turnstile.

Fans who are regular away match attenders will be familiar with the turnstiles as a number of clubs such as Everton, Liverpool and Southampton already have the modern turnstile installed at their grounds.

The new additions to the stadium is another step in Peter Coates` plan to revamp the Britannia Stadium and help to save match day costs.

The original plans to extend the Britannia Stadium have seemed to have been put on the backburner following an initial drop in season ticket sales.

My ticket is for the family stand and I was wondering how the new card can distinguish between a "Junior" "Adult" and "OAP" ticket as we use all three. ie What is stopping an Adult from using a child`s ticket?

Yes, I understand that Waddo but who will be checking that an adult is not using a child`s ticket? Are we still to have a man on the gate?

To start with they're having a guy on the gate, to make sure everyone knows what they're doing, but after that they're meant to be unmanned. I guess they're just being trusting. They can be skeptical when your getting the tickets though, once I bought tickets for my cousins, and they said "you have to bring the juniors with you to get their tickets". But then they changed their mind when I showed them my season ticket...

There have been times when my Granddaughter has not been able to get to the match. Evening kick offs and having to get up in the morning to go to school for instance, and on such occasions, we used to call in at the office and arrange seats in a different part if the stadium. Nowadays we just show our tickets at the usual turnstile and have never been refused even though we don`t have a junior with us.
