We had a horrendous injury list last season at Newcastle, as regards numbers of players out I'm pretty sure ours was worse than yours has been this season. But the truth of the matter is that we took gambles on one or two players with bad injury records (De Jong for us, Kirchoff for you) and our squad lacked the depth to handle it. Compare this to supposed whipping boys of last year Bournemouth who lost their star striker (Wilson), their marquee signing (Mings) and one of their key midfielders for pretty much the entire season - they just carried on. You, like us, lack strength in depth so a bad run of injuries - which happens to most clubs every so often - was goign to leave you in trouble. The powers that be at your club have slightly made their own luck on this one I'm afraid.
He does look like a good player and if you can get any momentum he may thrive. [apologies for linking things back to my team all the time but] we had the same with Wijnaldum last year, once the team is in a rut it's highly unlikely a new player is going to be able to lift them out of it. Cattermole + M'Villa in the middle with him would have you looking like a different beast entirely. All is not lost yet. I feel it will get worse as your next 3 games I'd make you second favourite for but thrash Hull and you'll probably only be 4-5 points from safety with 26 left to play. Hardly game over.
You certainly did. I read through the posts in order and replied before reading ahead so only noticed after I had posted but great minds clearly think alike. I remember Bournemouth playing Arsenal last year and the press making a meal out of Arsenal have 2-3 players out injured as if they haven't had the time and resources to cope with that. Meanwhile Bournemouth were just getting on with things, Howe is a bit of a legend for not just what he does but how he does it in my eyes.
We all have our opinions No trouble with that Exept I need help I'm not happy Drunk and still not happy What next Ohhhhhhhhhhhh
Yep. Apparently they were pushed very hard preseason too. That's all well and good to give them a good tank going into the midway and back end of the season. But the draw backs are they're prone to injury and early burn out. Folk can blame Moyes all they want, these amount of groin and hamstring injuries can only have come from Sam and his team's pre-season program. It could still come good second half of the season but at the moment it's crippling. A failed gamble. Last time we did this PDC was in charged and we looked knackard for the first 4 months and got spanked game after game but were complete warriors second half of the season which kicked in back end of the league cup run. Problem here is we needed early points for once to break a pattern so we clearly have indeed taken the wrong approach with our preseason.
