Whilst it would hurt to lose some of our good young players, this ‘now or never’ attitude is both misplaced and more likely than not damaging. It’s far more likely that failure to get up this summer would just be a prelude to another challenge next season. That’s how we’re set up. Whilst I’d love to go up with Rigg, Jobe and the rest I don’t ultimately care which set of players eventually gets us promoted.

I just feel like this is the perfect chance. Usually when you’re doing as well as this. You see the Jan window as a way to strengthen and give us a much better chance at going up.

Would be naive of them to ignore that. We’ve had a big sale with Clarke too. Surely that allows us to sign a few

It’s a good chance, sure, but who is to say next year isn’t a better one? We should never look to stand still but the truth is we’ve added impactful players in every single window in the KLD era. I don’t see that changing this window. However we have absolutely no need to force it. Just need to keep steadily building.

Depending who you go up with will determine how well we perform and what players we can attract

The 2 most successful players we let go for decent money. Stewart & Clarke have been replaced with cheap unproven players. Some decent most average. Where has the money gone?
4 academy players Patto Dan Rigg & Watson are the main reason we have been successful as they cost nothing allowing average wages for the other players. Sunderland players should not be leaving for double wages and more to clubs like Ipswich

GLASS HALF FULL . If we are saying Leeds will take top , then today wasn’t a total disaster , of the other six teams in top eight , four got one point , two got none.
GLASS HALF EMPTY. Would have been great time to get what should have been a straight forward 3 points. ( of course all those 6 teams will be saying “ if only” as well)

All teams are losing games they should be winning. That’s the championship. We’ve lost a lot less than most

I thought aleksic did ok considering it’s his second appearance. Probably should have been used a bit more to the ends of games

Seems much much quicker than I thought he would be. Don't normally get that burst of pace from CM players. I reckon he is going to be decent. Needs to be used though. Even for last 20.

We’re not far away at all, Mundle or Watson fit we win that, but we’re short of the right standard of options for me. We need players who improve us on the bench eg a genuine fit, ready competitor for Isidor, Roberts. The three you mention could just be more adequate replacements for the likes of Ba Rusyn and Aouchiche, not extra numbers but being honest with ourselves it’s less likely to happen in this window because like us people want to keep their best players until summer when they can replace them.

I noticed that, there’s been games when rigg has been a passenger and he could have helped out. Hopefully he gets a little run out now

Shame we lost both mundle and Watson at the same time. Especially with Roberts out today, I thought we’d struggle getting up the pitch. Would like a couple quality loans in January, with injuries coming back

I’m convinced without injuries or with more depth we’d be top.

I mean in the last 5 days we’ve dropped enough points we should have e won to be second.

We’ve still a great chance of top 2 if we get this window right.

Any team could say that though, we all get injuries and suspensions. The table doesn’t lie, there’s 3 better sides than us in the division.

We were top so, by that rationale, the table does lie ...

... it may be lying now.

Unfortunately it was one of those days, we had one at Sheff Utd last month where we did everything but score and were hit with a sucker punch.

Every defeat we’ve had this season we have responded by winning next game, hopefully we can continue that trend on Wednesday.

Right. Agree with all this. There are three teams with better records than us so far. We are where we deserve to be based on comparison to other teams.

I think the injuries and lack of ready squad depth are hurting us as usual. I think it will be very tough but possible to get second if we avoid injuries in the second half a the season. The only team I though we have struggled to live with for extended periods so far is Leeds. A striker who would stick in the recent Mayenda ones would be nice too !

Fooking pìssed off with the results lately.
    Especially against them shìt cùnts.
    Calmed down now.
We aren't carving out enough decent chances imo. The odd ones we do are wasted. We are capable of much better and hopefully this poor spell turns around quickly.
Can't fault the players for effort. We've been unlucky defensively especially last minute FFS.

We're good enough to be right up top.
I think we are one key player from making a big difference. Be it a striker or an attacking midfielder.
Or maybe these lads need to regroup.

Still think we are going up but still pìssed off losing to them shìtheads.

I think him and Aouchiche doing ok were the positives from today. As you say there have been times either one, especially Aleksic, could have had but haven't had minutes.

You'd think 2-0 up at home with 5 minutes left, give the new lad some game time but Regis has been very conservative. Doesn't make a great deal of sense when shortly after you're starting the same player in an important game.

There are loads of games between the top six like Sheff Utd v Leeds Utd and also endless derby games ...

... Sunderland have the likes of Hull, Plymouth, Portsmouth, Luton, Cardiff, Swansea and QPR at home.

Plenty can change before the end of the season, I'm not ready to give up on a team that can definitely improve.
