Great performance today by the lads, apart from a shaky 10 minutes or so at the end of the 1st half.

Begovic was solid, as were Ryan, Huth and Higgy. I thought Wilson still looked a little shaky at right back, looked very good coming forward, his passing was solid today as ever. Thought Jermaine worked very hard, and worked the wing very well, got some great crosses in. I thought Matty looked a little laboured when he was on, like he wasn't 100% fit. Rory and Glenn did nothing fancy, just broke up play nicely and the latter kept things simple when passing. Up front though, how good were we? Jonny never stopped, won loads in the air, caused the Newcastle defence problems all day, scored a good goal and flicked a lovely header on for the 4th goal. Kenwyne was pretty awesome today I'll admit. He worked very hard, especially 2nd half, put the defenders and Harper under pressure, deserved a goal, should've scored when one on one, shame he didn't. Also it was very nice to see Fuller actually smash the ball in instead of making it difficult for himself.

Man of the Match. Only one. Super Jonny Walters

Good result today lads, wasnt too confident going into this one and was resigned to either a loss or perhaps a draw if we had everyone fighting fit, I thought the scoreline was a little bit harsh on considering how much of the game we managed to dominate, but domination doesnt win games and your lot were clinical enough when the chances came.

Of course I'm gutted but was impressed with Stoke and the way they played, a lot of the play was on the ground today, sounded like a fantastic atmosphere aswell, kind of glad I didnt manage to make the trip in the end though <laugh>

Good luck for the rest of the season boys! Hopefully we can return the favour and give you a good drubbing next season ;)

Well played mate. Good of you to take it like a man. You're certainly a lot more gracious than some of the stuff we had off a few Sunderland fans after we beat them. At least you've come on and been a man about it. Glad you singled out that we played a little more on the ground. Lately the football hasn't been great but I thought we mixed it a lot more today, which was nice to see.

Good luck for the rest of the season. I like Newcastle fans, great support and not many sets of fans would still sing when you went 3-0, well played.

Hopefully we can both scramble enough points to stay up.

  4. Yeah super John was fantastic today but good to see Ric bang one in at the end. Higgy's was a BULLET...pick that one out! Pennant's first - at last(!) Great day all in all, my 8 year old lad's team won 2-0 (3rd in the league), had a decent pint with Cris (Tenterden Kent Potter) and his lad Nick at the Harvester. Decent chat and some friendly banter with some of the Newcastle fans too. Looked for you Potts but couldn't find you, maybe next time!

Great result from the lads but have to say Geordie, I agree with sarge, your supporters in the main stayed to the very end and were still singing loud and proud even when you were 3 down, so big respect for that!! Good luck for the rest of the season too.

Ass passtheoatcakes says a great performance by super Jon who really is going towards what WE ARE ALL ALL ABOUT passion, committmentand playing for the shrt nobody does this better than Jon .One of the best performances by the mighty potters in recent times to beat the toon.

SGT made a good observation about Wilson who made some basic errors at right back.Wilko is a better tackler but Wilson a better player over to you TP.

We have said all along about the strengh of higgy is that he scores goals and you cant get anymore important than today and last week a true hero in my book.

Final word goes to Tony Pulis who for me is a great Motivator,

    UP THE POTTERS

    Hey guys, Jub here <ok>

Very pleased with our result vs Newcastle, as every fan should be, a great team effort, only thing I would say was poor was Kenwyne, he was poor this game. Begs was great in goal, and here's too Tone great motivation! <cool>

You really couldn't make this up. I actually thought Kenywne had his best match of the season:emoticon-0102-bigsm I thought he worked very hard, closed down the defenders well, held the ball up well, worked very well with Super Jonny and deserved a goal, shame he couldn't put his one on one away, he just needs a goal to get his confidence up

    What a game!

Great performances from everyone in red and white (with a few crazy moments from the full backs!)

Didn't I say we had performances like this in us, if our best players could find form again.

Special mention to Kenwyne Jones, who was all over the pitch today. He hasn't looked as interested as that since the beginning of the season, and hopefully the encouragement he got from the crowd will have gotten through, and we'll see him back to his best soon

I just think the feel good factor of the fa cup has got everyone both players and fans going and glad Jones is getting back into form especially his work rate.He just needs a goal and hopefully this will settle him down.

Brilliant result and a great performance. K.J. I thought played his part today, and some! He chased back, harrassed Harper for our 2nd goal and why Jub you thought he was awful I'm not sure? Agree with all the other comments and as for Jon Walters absolutly brilliant for the whole 90 mins. Great goal too. And, what a thunderbolt from Higgy. I was right behind it and I saw it leave his boot and next thing the net bulged. I don't think I've ever seen a ball hit so hard.

Well done Tony Pulis also, a much needed 3pts, onwards and here's to giving Chelsea a decent game, bring it on!
Tony, you played with two wingers and it works, we told you it could and would work.

Well chuffed keep it going Tony P doing a good job right now. <ok>

Excellent overall performance - good job TP and all the lads. I still think that our best team is still not being played (Midfield?) and we ultimatley rely on the wingers to carry the burden and keep the ball out of the centre! KJ much better and Walters ran his nuts off and deserved his goal if only for effort alone - I do worry that our front line hasn't got enough goals in it over the rest of the season and we will be relying on others like Huth etc!

With the right players on the pitch we are a match for anyone - especially at home - but once we start diluting the team down we expose our weaknesses and look poor. The right team/tactics looks great going forward!

The right team could net us 50+ points and a final cup appearance, the pick a mix team could struggle to get 42 points and would look awful on a big Wembley pitch!
