Hey potter , maximum credit to your boys from us,no complaints at all,we knew exactly how you were gonna play, exactly how you were gonna score and that's exactly what you did!!

You played football when you were comfortable, but don't pretend it was a master class !

This thread is about our failings, not just against stoke but any team that carries a strong physical presence.

Good luck for the rest of the season, stoke were indeed stoke, nothing is gonna change the opinion of 90% of football fans, but there is nothing wrong with playing to your strengths, and your strengths are route 1, not bitterness just plain facts.

    <ok>

    <laugh>.

It was a bit like that in the first half but if I wastheir manager I would tell them exactly the same thing, it's been going on years with our back four and it doesn't look like it's gonna change anytime soon.

I don't want to bash stoke at all, they deserved the win and deserve perm football, we have a different philosophy to them and as laudrup correctly pointed out in his pre match conference there is no right or wrong way to play the game,it's all about different styles.

I've only seen highlights and the last live game but our positional sense at the back is woeful. It's got to come from communication issues. Sometimes Williams would just wander into a strange place and look round like a rabbit in headlights. How good is Chico's English?

    Potter Palm,
Jusus wept man? Yes I know on OUR site we've all said ( we thought Stoke passed it much better, our game isn't route one any more) and I am as pleased about that as the next Stokie.. that said matie..

I think it's a bit rich coming onto the Swans board with your comments. We we're the much better side first half. BUT I was there too remember. 2nd half we do as we've ALWAYS done and just sat back, got rid of the ball and apart from the last 15 mins we were getting OUTPLAYED in the middle Potter P??

Just pointing out that there's really no need to gloat about our performance which I agree was very good. Just don't like to see another Stoke fan. Running a team down with comments which, I think are at best, a bit silly. No offence meant but as I said previously. Swansea will be fine this season. They were certainly not
Championship standard IMHO of course. We just played better than Swansea and scored simples... it's a credit to our new signings that things are looking more positive but we now have Liverpool and Utd away! A much needed win for us and lest you forget Potter P. Swansea already had SEVEN Pts we did'nt.

    Good luck guys <ok>

This is what im talking about...ML is changing things far to much when he was brought in as i understood it to play the same way but with a few tweaks here and there....What we are seeing is a lot more than a few tweaks and it has spoiled everything the previous managers had installed....I bet if the players were allowed to speak out with out consequences then they would say the same....the football they are ordered to play is alien to them and the style they are use to and it stands out a mile....

Dont forget that our back 4 has had 2 enforced changes ! personally i think ML is cutting his teeth with a new system against teams that easily combated our system last year, i wouldnt be suprised if we try and keep the ball against wigan and reading.

Remember ML has said its not about just about plan A its about plan B,C and D . Paln A we do well and always have that in our locker, other plans need time to work both on the field and in training and it will take longer to impliment when we have an unsettled team due to injury and suspension.

You make some very valid points in this debate though Dai, time will tell us alot more especially after we play teams more around our level <ok>

I dont mind different plans but lets keep to the fundamental style of play that has got us this far....I was reading an article on the players performaces today and the reporter was saying things like....poor display by all that the way swansea have played for a number of seasons is not there, the manager leaves out key players like dyer and britton in previous games and then bring them back in where they are ineffective to what they do best. There was not one player comfortable on the ball and the passing was all over the place and they never looked like they could have scored all through the match and that goes for the previous two matches also. They have gone from Bacca to Barnet in a short space of time and nothing less than a win against reading and not just a lucky win will spell trouble times ahead.......

    Fully agree, Dai !

Against Everton, if it were not for the jerseys, you wouldn't have known it was the Swans.

yes i know exactly what you are saying as i have heard it countless times in the last couple of weeks and iv no doubt others have heard it also.....I cant work out what laudrup is trying to do to be honest, I suppose he has his reasons for so much change but why???? Why change a known winning formula that the majority of players are use to and comfortable with....I cannot fathom him out at the moment and his tactics and approach to a match....The thing is we are stuck with him now and unless the board can see the change and order him to get back to what the players are use to then we will just have to accept it and hope 3 teams are worse than us at the end of the season .....and that is a big risk to put £60 million on....

If he is changing things better to try them against teams and managers that worked out our plan A . It would not surprise me to see us play a more patient and controlled game against reading .

Its never early days thats just something you say when you are on a bad run to justify the situation...you need points asap and not leave it to late where you may not get them...Im praying we have a good win against reading but you know what its like when you play a bottom side, I would rather be underdogs and play a top side to get our confidence back because if we get beat by reading and we play like we have over the past 3 games then it will confirm that Laudrup is not up to the job.....

We lost four straight under Rodgers and that was well into the season when the team was settled and used to the playing style. The cracks had started to appear with Rodgers and we ended the season with a comparative whimper as teams had sussed our style.

This season was always going to be tougher and certainly would have been had Rodgers stayed. Laudrup did a careful analysis of us and rightly concluded that something extra was needed if we were to survive. That "extra" was more goals, using a slightly more direct, incisive, approach to get them.

It worked well to start with but has become derailed because of injuries, suspensions and the time it is taking for some of the new guys to bed in. We lost fluency when we lost Joe Allen. He and Leon were the bedrock of our midfield and we are paying a short term price for it. Longer term, I believe that the quality which we added will come good and see us okay.

Where I am concerned is the lack of depth in the squad and I said as much when ML announced his "streamlined" squad. I expect us to buy in the next transfer window which will seal some of the gaps. By then, Laudrup will know exactly what he needs to bolster the squad.

As a footnote, I see that Andrea Orlandi has started to turn in some performances for Brighton that have been described as "outstanding". I knew all he needed was game time to start producing and he should never have been allowed to leave. In my opinion.

Just an observation fella's as a Stoke fan who watched our recent game.

Do any of you think that you have "been found out"?? As we were with Delap a couple of seasons back. Just wondering because as at least on Swans fan has said.

Teams are now pressing you further and further back. I noticed this and said to myself. WHY not just clear the ball and deal with it. NOT try and dribble/pass your way out. e.g. even your keeper did'nt seem to want to kick it long.

NO OFFENCE intended, I'm just interested that's all. You had a great season last year. Some advice, from what I've seen last season you still have more or less, the same squad. M L will get it right IMHO eventually.

    Good luck <ok>

no we haven't been found out as we are not playing the same style to be found out. To make an excuse that we are missing players is absolutely rubbish ivor...we are a squad who train together and that should not change the way we play......the problem is too much change in the way we play in a short space of time, ...That is laudrups fault and nobody else, so i hope for his sake we put in a commanding performance against reading or it wont just be the away jacks calling for his head it will be the home supporters also....
