Still not Sectarian??

Come on EDGE, no one on here has said Celtic fans don't have a bigotry problem. We just point out that it isn't as bad as yours.

it is imperative that you find out what sectarianism is before you undertake any scholarly work on it, As Celtic don't have a problem.
 
The guy is an oaf and if he did make sectarian comments or threats then I have absolutely no sympathy and he should feel the full force of the law.

The FB site in question however, "Neil Lennon should be banned" used to be called "Neil Lennon should be hanged" so perhaps his comments were made in the heat of the moment? Not that I condone any comments he made but perhaps the people who put up the page in the first place should also be taken to task?

How many Celtic FB pages are dedicated to Ally McCoist or other Rangers men? Scant few i'll hazard but there are plenty dedicated to Neil Lennon, you tell me then point scoring man, who has a greater problem? A simple glance over at the Rangers board on this forum will provide your answer.

<doh> It isn't about who has the greater problem we BOTH have your starting the same argument over again, WE BOTH HAVE A SECTARIAN PROBLEM doesn't matter what is worse on one site or board or clubs pub we both have a problem FFS

How can Celtic clean up the rampant sectariansm that runs through our fanbase? Maybe we should cut out the sectarian singing at Parkhead?

Which songs that Celtic fans sing - in your opinion - are sectarian?

Any in particular that are offensive to a particular religion?

As I have said before Sad Orange Bastard, Go Home Ya Huns, anything with them 2 words in is Sectarian the song list was published.

So no one is allowed to sing about Huns? Aberdeen, Hibs to name but two will be amazed. Good try but that's not sectarian as I have already explained. It's a derogatory term for a Gers fan, no more no less or why else would other fans sing it, are they bigots too?

I agree about the Sad Orange Bastard song but the problem is miniscule at Parkhead, it tends to be shouted/sung at away matches mostly and even then it's not often I have heard it. I would like to see the police arrest anyone they hear saying it but it's not going to happen is it? It shoul simply not be heard.

I don't care what you think or feel, its FACT that under the new guidelines supported by Alex Salmond, The Police SFA and both clubs HUN IS a sectarian word.
But I'll tell you what Dev you seem like a smart bloke I'll take your word for it over those 5 <doh>

There is nothing in Law that states "Hun" is sectarian, you cannot tell me what I mean when I utter a word can you? I'm a Prod, am I a Hun? When I say Hun, I mean nothing but Rangers Supporter. How come I have NEVER been called a Hun?

Guidelines are not - and never will be - "Law" unless they are classed as such by Law under statute or adopted as "Common Law", until then Celtic fans and other will call Rangers fans Huns, until it's Law and not some draft suggestion then people will continue to call Gers fans Huns.

Perhaps when some people have actually been charged and convicted for usage of the word it will cease. The first case where I see someone convicted for calling someone a Hun then perhaps I will accept it, until then it's fair game.

A Celtic fan was arrested on the night of the Uefa Cup final for wearing a T-shirt that predicted Zenit St Petersburg's win over Rangers, a court heard yesterday.

Michael Devlin was spotted wearing the top, which had the words "dirty horrible huns" scrawled across the back, just minutes after the game in Manchester.

The top also had "Zenit St Petersburg, Champions Uefa Cup Final 2008" printed on the front. The 20-year-old was walking along Glasgow's Hillington Road South with friends when two police officers noticed the T-shirt and stopped him.

Sheriff Iain Peebles told Devlin: "This was an act of gross crassness and stupidity taking into account the timing and the place you were when wearing the T-shirt."

At Glasgow Sheriff Court, Devlin, of Gleddoch Road, Glasgow, was convicted of committing a religiously aggravated breach of the peace on May 14 this year.

The court heard that Devlin had been watching the game in a house with friends when the group decided to go out and get a takeaway at the end of the match.

Constable Andrew Gunn told the court he and his colleague were out on another call when they spotted the Celtic fan with a crowd of youths at around 10.10pm.

Mr Gunn said: "I informed him that the T-shirt was offensive and told him to take it off. He had a Celtic top on underneath. There were members of the public there and Rangers fans were walking along Paisley Road West nearby.

"There were no other difficulties, just that he was wearing that T-shirt."

Defence lawyer Bob Mackinnon told the court that the top was just a bit of "Glasgow banter".

He said: "From school to university to working life, almost everyone in Glasgow is affected by this divide and will get on the case of their friends and colleagues."

However, Sheriff Peebles told the court his decision was based purely on law. He deferred sentencing on Devlin until October next year for him to be of good behaviour.

WRONG!

Once you make a Facebook group page you are unable to chnage the name of it. If a group went up like that, they pull the plug on it they don't say "Can you change the word hanged to something else"

I would hardly say I am outragged, I just think that there is no need for it. I have expressed that opinion to both sets of fans.
