this is taking the piss now!

no offers made (nothing out in the open anyway) for other strikers.

11th august 2012: "We are still trying to persuade Oxford to sell Jamie Constable to us and I think a decision will be taken, one way or another, this week. obviously mcghee been waiting and waiting for carayol to go and zebroski to free up more funds for a striker who scored just 11 goals in 43 games last season at league 2 level. cant believe mcghee has spent from the end of may to middle of august (by the time a decision will be made) trying to buy just 1 player is a piss take. sorry but it is. the guy aint even that good in my opinion! could of got better in and cheaper by now who could of already formed a partnership in pre season.

im not impressed at all. i like mcghee but he is currently giving me reasons not to and if he carries on this why i can see a lot more thinking like me.
 
I feel the same CJ. MM obviously has some good contacts in the game so I can't believe he would find it hard to find another striker we could look at, be that on loan or permanent. I don't understand why he is continuously going after this bloke, as it's not as if he is a world beater, or even prolific at this level, and people say he brings a lot to the table, but really all we need is a goal scorer to partner Harrold and IMO we will be fine for strikers. MM should be concentrating on defence and Midfield IMO where we are desperate for cover in defence, and just desperate for a good midfielder...anyone would do!!

I don't think Constable would come anyway even if the bid was accepted. He has refused many a club before us apparently, and both of those clubs are higher than us (Swindle were in the same league but were top of the league). Move on MM I say, Constable is not even the best striker in this league by a long shot, so look elsewhere.
 
Who needs Constable when we've got Clarkson?! :emoticon-0140-rofl:
If it's Constable who's stalling then he can p*** off somewhere else. Even if he does come
here all the waiting has raised expectations about him and he will have to score 20 goals minimum.
I'm with the others here; move on and get a younger, cheaper option who wants to come here.

Clarkson, well again I haven't seen much of him but from what I hear he is unfit and fat? Typical of a ex ****head player <laugh>

Bristol rovers to launch a final bid for oxfords James constable. This one is likely to test oxfords resolve.

Constable has said he will not leave Oxford United unless a bigger club in a higher league comes in for him.

if true then yes please. be delighted with this as injury prone. however he is the most experienced cm we have by some distance. let him go once we have replacement in the door already.

offer is true obviously and i hope oxford says no now or constable says no. we can do better. however constable has been very vocal in the past saying wont leave oxford. he turned down swindon last season when they were top and would now be league 1. but he hasnt said anything about us which makes me think he would say yes to us. hope not.
 
Said in an interview today that he hopes to have him signed by saturday. FFS I hate chasing a player around for ages, only to find out they never intended to join us in the first place!
