'Borrowed' from the Southampton forum, this is a the place to talk about anything and everything, football related or otherwise which will hopefully get the forum more active, named for Pompey_London just because! Normal rules apply, so no posting porn, etc.

    So how is everyone today?

Copied and pasted from the Live Text on the Australia v New Zealand match

Pat Murphy at Edgbaston, BBC Radio 5 liveWARNER LATEST

On what happened in Walkabout in Birmingham on Saturday night: "There was a private VIP area and some of the Australia players were in there. The three England players - Joe Root, Stuart Broad and Steven Finn - were some way away and were 'larking' around - wearing silly wigs and that.

"I understand Warner took umbrage and went over to Root and glanced him on the chin. I also understand Warner contacted him the next morning to apologise and try and smooth things other. I am hearing that Broad put his arm around Root as soon as it happened and said 'time to go back to the hotel', and I am also told that they were not worse for wear.

"One thing that is important to say is that since 13 May the England players, particularly Root and Broad have not had a day off - 8 June was identified as down time. The matter is closed as far as the ECB is concerned."

I dressed up as Scorpian (Mortal Kombat) for a fancy dress pub crawl. It was the best thing ever.

I went to a fancy dress party once where the theme was 'animals'. I just went in normal clothing with my girlfriend on my back. The host told me off for not coming as an animal. "what do you mean?" I said. "I've come as a tortoise. This is Michelle.

It's just so cringeworthy when people write stuff like that on their cv or cover letter. I mean, seriously !

Hampshire have forfeited their 1st innings and Gloucestershire their 2nd, so it's a one innings match at the bowl, with hants currently 63-1, chasing a target of 411 to win

A spectacular failure, but Hampshire must be applauded for having the gumption to go for it.

Sussex and Surrey had no such plan and look like playing out a draw. At least Ponting didn't get many.

Coventry owners SISU have put the company that rents the Ricoh Stadium into admin, appointed the Administrators, and another of their 'group' companies is buying it out of admin. Foul play suspected. SISU haven't paid the rent on the stadium for months and it is suggested that they have done this to force the charity (which 50% owns the stadium) into administration so they can pick it up at a nominal price.

Barry Town FC had financial problems and were bought out 10 years ago by someone who clearly has severe mental problems - ie. he's totally nuts. After a fractious 8 years the Supporters Committee took over running the club, the owner just owned the club and got his money from the bar in the clubhouse. The SC have raised all the funds and paid all the bills for the last 2 years. They are solvent. Their 'owner' withdrew the team from the league with just 2 games to go - the Welsh FA & League accepted that and expunged their record for this season.

So the SC applied to the WFA for membership of the league in their own name, were assured it would be a slam-dunk, (same team, same players, same manager, same people paying the bills) - the WFA met last week and refused their application, with no reason given. All hell has broken loose in Wales. Barry Town are one of the biggest clubs in Wales and it seems that it was a stitch-up by the owners of the other teams in the Welsh league.

The 'business' of football is even dirtier game than normal businesses.

It's raining in Cardiff. If there's no result in the England v New Zealand game, the kiwis will be through to the semis, while England will either need an Australia win over Sri Lanka tomorrow or a washout.
